I don't think it's worth the effort at this point. The resources would be better spent on a new game for the PS5 era.

For all we know, the new project Yoshida is doing could be a FFXIV for PS5.

At least I hope. If not I guess the 10y plan for XIV as ended.

If they follow the usual pattern, it should be one more expansion in the summer of 2021 followed by a 2-year patch cycle. That would be 10 years. I don't see SE going back and updating the textures on old content though.

that could work. the next xpac is in about 2 years and that is around the same time ps5 would come out. but if they are gonna keep ff14 around they need to change engines or upgrade it to get past all the limitations. They can accept this fate or defy it, but they cannot deny it.
