Suggestion: Retainer ventures via companion smartphone app

I've played around with the companion app for a few weeks now, and while it has it's uses such as buying and selling on MB, chatting with friends etc., it's still a bit light on features.

Also took a look at the premium features. There's just not enough right now to warrant imo paying for premium $5 a month.

One thing I do a lot in FFXIV is send my retainers on ventures, especially the quick ones. The thrill of potentially getting something that is rare or sells for a lot on the marketboard is appealing to me. However right now, whether I'm at work / on the go, or just away doing other things in Eorzea, going to my retainers every hour is a bit of a pain.

It would be great if the premium $5 / month (or free version), included the ability to send your retainers on ventures and complete ventures. This way you could be at work/school and on break and do a quick venture check. Would be a neat way to keep players engaged with the game even when not actively playing.

That would just be too convenient and make too much sense. Instead, let's keep this version that gives you a "Disconnected from server" message before automatically restarting EVERY TIME and puts Chat, Events and Contacts (features that nobody will ever, ever use in this age of Discord) up front. You know, because the app was conceived and developed by psychotic gerbils, just like the Mog Station purchase interface.

Wait until you buy Shadowbringers if you haven't already. Having to find where to buy it, then buying it, then having to deal with multiple different websites and emails to confirm codes etc... Then going to the mog station after is pretty crazy. I don't know who in their right mind would do this instead of just making it a simple one button expansion upgrade from the mog station.

I hear you. Why they would go out of their way to make it HARDER to buy their product, I don't know.

Honestly when I saw the app announcement, my first assumption was that retainer management would be its primary purpose >.>

I would love to keep my Quick Explorations going without having to return to the bell every hour. Of all the MMOs that have a system for sending companions on missions, FF14 wins the prize for the most inconvenient implementation.

Retainers need to learn how to use linkpearls. Or should get an iTome too.
