Just going to say after coming back to this thread, the adjustments to the poll were spot on.

I'm also pleasantly surprised the numbers for same/less height compared to females are as high as they are (61% atm!). I also agree on wanting the height/muscle slider to give options for people to adjust them more than current sliders tend to.

If Sqenix can do it, I'd rather people have more options than just cater to my tastes.

That could be an option in case if we would have two different looking tribes for females. But since their only differences are color palettes, it will be same for males (if we get them).

That is basically asking SE to make three distint models for one race. That's literally insane.

my question there is short in what way, short compared to all races or short compared to female viera, do you mean short as in a few feet like au ra, or 'short' as in within a foot of females, be more specific so the developers dont have to guess at what your statement means (especially since it has to be translated and a nonspecific meaning can become even more muddled)

Small as in between 14 year old Alphanauld and Lalafel.

Alternatively, 69% in favour of the same height or taller. ;p I'm generally not opposed to them being the same height, though. Just not a huge fan of them being shorter, but I don't hugely mind/care if the height slider allows for their minimum option to go below the females.

Personally interested in seeing them manifest their culture visually, why they need to leave the tribe at puberty. I'm sure there are many ways to do that, but I don't see the males being a similar body shape to the females because of that. I picture them going through a sort of metamorphosis at puberty making them far more aggressive and physically exceptional, or kind of going the other way and becoming the most colorful and beautiful of the bunch (not necessarily purely feminine but to the point you could feasibly make a Kuja like appearance if you so wanted). They leave either because of safety or because of the classic bunny problems if they stayed together .

I definitely believe in sliders and face options though that break away from whatever stereotype they'll be placed into. If they're normally tall it would be nice to be able to make them short for those who want. If they start with good muscle mass a slider to bring that into the softer range. Or if they're Kuja-ish some options to bring out the fierce nature such that you don't have to be the most fabulous and beautiful male to ever exist lol.

That's just my preference from reading their lore though. I'm definitely one of those who think while we should be mindful of lore there can always be things written to adjust it to the needs of the people (thank god SE does so, otherwise we'd be stuck without Demi-Bahamut and Ahk-morn lol). So to me kicking out the males early in life seems weird so I go out of my way to make reasons why it doesn't seem weird (changes physically require changes culturally). Of course simply they could be written in with a weird (in my eyes) culture and we can have some really interesting quest dialog on the males feelings about being banished (some who relish it, and some who'd really want to stay with the community but are forced out). So I don't want to give the impression I'm fixed on it being this way because lore, just that I hope there is something that compliments the lore or expands upon it so that it fits whatever is decided (if they look nearly exactly the same and there is no reference or admittance on the oddity I'd just be disappointed at the gap lol).

In attempt to explain the culture of leaving without a visual difference I did think that perhaps there is a contract with the elementals of the area (some ancient forest near deity like thing) that requires the male Viera leave and protect the forest borders. I thought of this based on the fact they follow the Green Word (that they follow the green word is mentioned in the FFXIV promo site). Green Word was a sort of ability and social/culture contract in the other games where they had a few unique abilities but also there were a bunch of "you do this, you don't do that" - so taking it from the other games and adding a bit more extreme enforcement now it's actually a contract with the forest (making it literally "The" Green Word).

Right, I forgot to mention that the actual Small faction want like Au Ra female compared to Au Ra Male sorta small, not just "slightly shorter. Clarification, I can do that!

What I'm trying to say, and this is just anecdotal, is that I've seen more people ask for male viera to be slightly shorter than female viera, rather than people saying they want something drastically shorter.

Cute poll. I enjoy the way it fantasizes the possibilities with pretty pictures. I'm also with Clover's post above mine. Personally, I wanna see bunny men that look like they are the male counterparts to the lady ones rather than something left field.
