So many hopes ready to be shattered.

So many hopes ready to be shattered.

there are 2 new raids in 1.21, i wouldnt be surprised to see them tie into the job gear.

Job gear needs to be challenging to obtain. (read, quest based, party based play, not time-sink 1/20 chance at a drop of a item)
If you want it purely for looks, convince SE to open a cash shop for a stat-less version of the gear you want and buy each piece with real money. (please don't take me seriously here)

They took Warrior's pirate hat from the concept art and replaced it with some kinda Viking-ish helm. /ragequit.

No, you should not be able to get gear that looks almost like the Job gear int hat picture without actually unlocking the Job and earning it through subsequent quests.
The whole point is that in the context of this world those uniforms are meant to be iconic of the Jobs they represent. They are separate from classes and we will have to go through a number of quests to reach the potential of any single Job. In the same manner one earns a uniform that has meaning, one should earn these Job gears.
Another point is, surely there will be more sets unlocked for each Job in the future that follow the same basic gear design - thus making it so one can wear them for vanity on regular classes is silly.
Actually I expect the quests to be solo - however I hope for them to be well designed. I have it playing out in my mind like a series of trials one goes through to learn the secrets of what the Job entails - and by overcoming these trials they become enlightened. Think Cecil's trial when he set out to become a Paladin.I dont want it super easy. I Dont want it super hard.
I want it to be party based content.
If completing the level 30 quest unlocks out job, all other job quests should require you to be on that job to continue. Which means you should need a group, since you are gimped soloing on a job!
The quests should be thematic, and ask of the player to perform the duty that Job will be tasked with in a party.
Give an aspiring PLD survival and protection oriented quests that test it's ability to stay alive and protect party NPCs.
Give an aspiring WHM healing and supporting oriented quests that entail keeping party NPCs alive.
So on, so forth.
The quests should be challenging and should actually teach you the Job in the process even - but without the feeling of being a simple tutorial. So when you see someone in their iconic Job AF, you know they earned it.

God damnit, schooled. The concept art I had looked at was different and when I found it, I found one of much better quality than when I had first seen it, and there certainly is no pirate hat.

Hmm... going to digress a bit but, I just noticed the horn on BRD's waist. So they get a Barp and a horn? Sweet!
Link to hi-res.
I could explain that I'm willing to put more 'work' into this than I may have led you all to believe (basically anything short of having to do a raid and depending on low drops + competition would be alright), but why should people who think that you have to actually work for simply being able to look like a Final Fantasy character be appeased? MMOs have come into a terrible sense that they should "belong" to the hardcore or something.
I'd understand your annoyance if I was saying I wanted full AF gear with good stats effortlessly, I'm saying I just want the robe, I would even take it at a stat PENALTY.
