Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

The veira lore has been in place since FFXII way back in 2008. Before that Male Veira literally didn't exist.

I really don't get your point, XII lore only mentions Male and Female Viera living "separately" in different villages, only making contact when the need arises. Nothing about lower birthrates, or defenders of the forest, just isolationist and not inhabiting the same area of Golmore that we go through (and the Viera we DO see in Golmore are in the part that's blocked until Jote lets us through), and since we need Fran to even go inside Eruyt, it'd be downright impossible to go to a Male village

These are not the same Viera as Ivalice so the XIV team can and has rewritten the Viera Lore.

Let me requote what I quoted since you apparently missed what I responded to.

I'd like to believe that lore was hastily rewritten after the... feedback to be ambiguous enough to "justify" both the lack of mViera/fHrothgar at launch, and the possibility of adding them in the future.

And you gleefully misinterpreted what I meant. Here's what I said about it in another thread about the same topic:

Buuuuuut there's a nice thing in the descriptions that only mentions their opposite sex being "rare" (in both Viera and Hrothgar), opening them up for adding the missing genders later down the road. In fact, the male Viera even contradicts the dramaturge now. "Males of age are seldom, if ever, found within the bounds of any village" instead of "to us, they might not exist" the whole "prohibited from contact with the outside world" would apply to both men and women, as well.

Hrothgar on the other hand, handwaves it even easier, "rarely so much as glimpsed by the other races" still implies they've been seen and we know they exist, and since the PC is always an outlier that belongs nowhere, it's a decent excuse to bring them later down the line

In this case, contradicting the earlier lore from the dramaturge is rewriting, you countered implying that it's the same lore from XII. If you're not implying it's the same lore, then what are you saying because

isn't really telling me much. Are you complaining that I didn't say "PLAYABLE" male Viera? Because, yeah, males haven't been playable, that's kind of why we're doing this. Are you saying that, because they weren't even handwaved in TA, they have no business being in any game? I honestly have no idea what you're trying to say. Because what it LOOKS like you're saying is that XII Viera = XIV Viera...which is not true...
