I meant getting male Viera and not female Hrothgar. But whatever.
The outrage has kinda been caused by Yoshi P, though.
He has a history of wearing shirts that hint at something in the future, and he wore a shirt of Bugs bunny (a MALE rabbit). And then at a fanfest when someone asked about male Viera he told people to wait until the next fanfest, rather than denying there would be male Viera.
These two things built false hype. Maybe it was unintentional, but they did. You can't blame the fan base too much for this.
The fact that they had concept art for Viera since before heavensward and yet only started working on Viera so late, despite knowing for a long time that people wanted them, and how there will be issues with their gear after launch, seems like poor time management.
If its the higher-ups fault for this, by not allowing more time for both female and male Viera, and male and female Hrothgar to be fully finished, it would be nice to hear a statement from them.
Also, WTF is up with Hrothgar feet? They are completely at odds with their hands. They have ordinary copy pasted roegydaen feet, and their very ordinary toenails are flesh coloured and doesn't match with their claw colour. Looks unfinished. It bugs me more than it should.
(IDC about male Viera or female Hrothgar personally, but I understand why people would want them, and I support them requesting for them to be in-game. Yes. Requesting, not "demanding" like what some people think that genderlocking disapprovers are doing. )

Signing this, I wish I could play an elegant male Viera, wanted to see them since 2006 and got so hyped when I saw the male concept art from SE during 2.0.
100% totally agree. Thanks for addressing our concerns in a civilized manner. Now, it would be nice to hear a response from the Devs. Any response at this point would suffice.
Dude, same. Yes, it was my own fault that I was being presumptuous and counted my chocobos before they hatched but given past concept art, the amount of attention paid to them in that lore dump (I figured the parts about them being rare loners would more akin to the playable male Miqo'te), and the statement at the Paris Fanfest about waiting for more information on male Viera, I felt I had reason to believe they were all but confirmed./SIGNED
I totally agree, I spent the best part of a week and a half drafting a backstory for my, what i was expect to be, Viera Male... using what little lore was availible. I am so disappointed we've gone back to gender locked races. this exact reason is why i left Black Desert online after playing for only 2 days. Please don't be like BDO, SE.
I too spent a fair amount of time designing my potential Viera dude, all he needed was a name really. Sucks that he probably won't be able to see the light of day.
If Devs implement my inability to be second scholar in a party i surely won't whine and spam with silly petitions. I won't even consider it major problem.
And at least your example has an impact on an actual game.
This nonexistant "genderlock" has not.
No but instead you create an forum account to attack others and deplete your salt mines.
Its ok if you are against it, and by all means you can start an anti campaign if it bothers you that much.
But dont come here playing the jerk if your real problem is the people of this forum.
Not at all a SE WK, you know me but people really need to chill about that.
Yoshida himself, during an interview with MisterHappy, said there were not against adding both genders but they lack time to do so for the release.
- YES you won't get them right away.
- NO that does not mean we won't get male Vieras and female Ronso (won't try to right the official name ^^").
Considering how people reacted it we can even assume will get them WHEN THEY HAVE TIME TO WORK ON THEM.
Do you realise the time needed to create a race ?
I agree with you on that point : why introduced 2 gender lock races instead of one full ? Maybe because, in that way, we might end up with 2 new races instead of just one ?
SE had to make a choice : release the expansion in july with 1 gender ofthe new races or delay it and have the 2 done, thus leading to a far far away release.
Are you sure the 2nd solution would have been better ? ^^"
People don't know how to take criticism anymore, and bad play is rewarded with with a coddling mentality. Yes, this is a casual game for the most part - that doesn't mean people need to walk on eggshells in fear of getting reported for pointing out things. This whole 'please don't say anything even slightly negative' mentality that we seem to be going towards and the devs seemingly pushing towards it is creating a disturbing trend.
I really doubt they were going to give us all four options. The resources thing, to me, was more "we could only add one race so we went with mixing Hroth and Viera because we thought that would please more people". Note he said that this would (probably) be the last race they would release.
And that interview came after there was already a lot of backlash, and every subsequent interview since was in response to the backlash.
We know the devs are hard pressed for development time and resources to the point neither fViera nor mHroths were really ready on time for their reveal trailers - which were several short months away from release. Regardless of anything, I absolutely thing ShB (and the end of SB's MSQ for that matter!) would've been better off with a later releaseAre you sure the 2nd solution would have been better ? ^^"
