It's not. He literally said they wanted to balance Tanks, and Healers, before adding any new ones before SB launched. Now we are still hearing that Healers need to be balanced. You can attribute any meaning to what he said that you want to, but I am going by only what was explicitly said.

edit: I should note that I am not completely up in arms about the lack of a healer, I am still immensely excited for ShB. That said though, we best not hear the same thing for a third time two years from now.

I am going by what he explicitly said as well, I posted it pages and pages back, but google MrHappy's interview and he said they wanted to get away from shield/direct heal duality. In other words, in 4.0 they tried to make shield/direct heal paradigm work and it isn't that dynamic so now they want to try to make something else work instead. If they can get that to work, I imagine it'll be easier to add a 4th healer, and, depending on the new paradigm, maybe even introduce brand new types of healers with less balance issues.

However, I have seen nothing that, at this point, leads me to believe they will be trying anything different at all. Words are cheap, as they say. We will see two years from now.

SE does not view the game as having 3 roles, but 5. Now 6. MT, OT, Healer, Caster, Melee, and Ranged.
When you view it that way, you'll realize why the jobs we've gotten are the roles we've gotten.

Or the rebalancing could not work out again or possibly if it does work out and 6.0 comes around and only dps are announced.

Don't see how fourth tank going to balance then when they never been balanced. Tanks have same problem as healers. So adding another tank will balance them but not the healers makes zero since to me. What they done for 5.0 sure turned me off from buying it. 4.0 was dps only classes. 5.0 should been only tank and healer jobs added. I know this be first ffxiv expansion that I will never have pre-ordered.

they plan to balance tanks by making them in to tanks and off tanks, essentially making it so only two are competing with each other at a time. if they did not add a tank, there would be one tank required for 8 man, and two tanks who compete for the last spot. Will this work? who knows, but they clearly have a specific plan.

the difference in healer seems to be they plan to unify the abilities, so that everyone has barriers and heals. To me, this is kinda ehhh, because it seems 3 mages which to me, already play fairly similar will be even more a like, but perhaps they plan to make them diverse in other ways. But, essentially they want any healer to be able to compete for the same spots

as far as diversity and creativity goes, this is pretty worrysome to me, because they dont seem comfortable with anything being too different within its sub role. But it does seem to be logical based on what type of balancing they want to achieve.
