I don't mind them but I think they could use a little rework and more options

i like elezen i cant really play as males too long before it annoys me but ive been a female a couple times and like it
I really enjoy playing with my Elezen, tried switching till Shadowbringers back to roots (Lalafell), but still missed my Elezen, and maybe I will stay an Elezen in Shadowbringers and not change to Viera.
It is true, that it is not easy to make a pretty one (same for Roe's, but I have seen some beautiful female Roe's, but when I try it, it does not go well), I find I did my Elezen pretty well, and I enjoy being one of the rare classes around ^^
and my avatar hasn't updated in the forums yet, I changed back to Elezen in the weekend XD
I love my duskwight. So much that I often ponder making him my true main over femroe. Problem is, femroe feels like it's my virtual self while elegent is a character I play. I intend to play both equally; femroe more in the beginning to experience all battle class stories and elezen more before patch updates for harder endgame stuff.
Gotta say, though, that my elf has a lot less glamour headaches than my poor roe. Can't even find the perfect hairstyle for her, because all hairstyles are made for midlander/miqo'te/au ra in mind, and I happen to be a fan of cute hairstyles+glam to which roes have to go an extra mile to pull off. Dx Meanwhile Mr.Fashion can look fabulous even in baggy yellow script DoH gear that would make my roe look like a mountain of cloth.
How have you not seen an Elezan or Lalafell before? I see em all the time.
Female Elezen can look quite pretty, I played one all the way up through Heavensward at one point because they fit the storyline for it so well in fact, the small head issue can be rather glaring unless you get gear and pick hairstyles to mask it to an extent
for example picking streamlined gear or dresses and combining it with a voluminous hairstyle like one of the more recent long hair options can make everything look more even
The dragoon helmet that you get in the 1-50 quest chain for example makes Elezen heads look much bigger than they normally do (almost as though dragoon armor was specifically made to make Elezen look their best)
I'm disappointed in the male Elezen, truthfully I think if they had just one genuinely pretty face (you know the one) or even just one similarly pretty to you-know-who male Elezen would be quite popular compared to where they stand now.

Viera looks amazing
Hrothgar looks amazing
Shadowbringers looks amazing
Everything looks amazing

So obviously it's all a trap and the world is factually coming to an end..
Not trying to be mean but I'm not a fan of my male Duskwight Elezen. I didn't like the face and hair choices and I find their proportions a little odd-looking. However I dislike the other races way more, and that was the main deciding-factor for me. I would've likely been a male Au'ra if their run and jump animations weren't so goofy. The Elezen have great animations and once you cover their bodies in armor the proportions don't stand out much at all. I would prefer male Viera or male Hrothgar more than likely but they're not available yet, so I picked the "lesser evil" of all the "original" races rather than one I actually liked (which is not a very satisfying feeling to have during character creation.)
I suppose Ishgard is a non-standard take on elves... except that I'm also tired of the cold-climate-medieval aesthetics that flooded entertainment throughout most of 2010s, probably in large part thanks to Game of Thrones and Skyrim. I guess it's one of the reasons I feel like the only FF14 player who didn't like Heavensward much. At some point, I just wanted to get out of Ishgard and move on to the warmer and less medieval-Europish locales of Stormblood.I feel like FFXIV has stepped away from that stereotype, at least to some degree. They've still linked the 'elves' to the 'forest city', but it goes beyond that - Ishgard isn't a typical fantasy-elf city at all, and they're being used more like just another variety of humans.
And Duskwights seem interesting, although are regrettably under-explored. I would love to see a proper underground settlement sometime - not in ruins like the parts of Gelmorra that we've seen so far, but a functioning city in a cave setting. Not a dark and dingy place, but lit up and beautiful.
As for Duskwights, I agree, I'd love to see one of their cities in a non-ruined state!

The rarest race in this game is a male Elezen with face 4. I've been playing for two years and I've only ever seen one person with it.
everybody hates the elf race? Yet everybody fawns over Aymeric and Haurchefantas for the shoulders, they are a characteristic of the race. Just like Roe males look like golems. That's their race, it's how they look
