First time ever logging on to the forums, but I needed to throw my support behind the call for male Viera and female Hrothgar. It's 2019, I can't believe that we're even having to request equal gender opportunities.
Pretty sure I have a heart.
In case that reference doesn't land; I'm one of the many who have wanted a playable bestial race for years... while also throwing shade at Viera at every opportunity I had. Being told a bestial race would be a waste of time and resources (also for years) made me salty (cynical? disdainful?) :I

One of the items of evidence that Square cites is an old poll where demi-beast race got top vote but used Viera as an example. I can't find any other official-ish poll, but maybe others can help.
I'm for both male viera and female hrothgar being implemented, and they for sure have the resources. It's not about resources, it's about priorities. The big worry is if Yoshi-P doesn't address it this week. His team made a major mistake in deciding not to implement both genders, and it remains to be seen if they have the wherewithal to reverse their own mistakes. Yoshi-P just got promoted in a big reorganization, it's prolly not a great time for him to go hat in hand to his superiors admitting he messed up and asking to change things. But that's what it will take.
I've seen somewhere in this thread commentary that we just pay Square rent and shouldn't expect Square to listen to us. No. That's a bad take for many reasons, but mostly because MMOs actively depend on customer responsiveness in order to survive and thrive.
Remember, the sooner Square commits to implementing the genders the better for them, because wearable bloat will continue to expand. So if we wait for 6.0 it's never going to happen, as their current excuse against it only becomes larger. They have to commit now and tell us they are making the change.
I agree with absolutely everything you said. I do expect yoshi p to fulfil his promise and finally after almost 1 month stop trying to ignore the genderlock backlash situation (since it's impossible to ignore it). My bet is that by the end of this week we will have an approximate date on when male viera and female hrotgar will be releasedOne of the items of evidence that Square cites is an old poll where demi-beast race got top vote but used Viera as an example. Genderlock was officially confirmed on the last FanFest which was late March. It hasn't been a month yet. Nor has he ignored it, he issued a statement saying they're looking into it. Regardless of how much any of us appreciate the silence since, those things do take time, and with more press releases coming up in May (PLL or something, no?) I doubt they'll say anything more for the time being, but that doesn't mean they're ignoring it.
They've already released a statement. There's no need to rush them. Ensuring that the expansion releases on time and in a smooth manner is far more important than repeating the statement that they are taking feedback into account. They've already said they're considering adding them. They even have a tentative look in mind.
I will say that they'll probably say something more before ShB's release, mind, even if it's just a general statement (could even be yes/no). To try and win back some of those lost pre-orders and squeeze some extra sub time.
