Dude, you made a mistake; own it. You don't have to pass all the blame to SE. Maybe now you can take this time to clean/re-arrange your storage on those extra retainers and fire them, if you don't plan on using them.

I read it fine the first time and my post is no less true for it. If one doesn't want things getting locked on a retainer that one isn't going to continue to pay for, one should take things out of that retainer's inventory before the retainer lease expires.

I dunno, why did they make it so you cannot transfer servers when there's an expired wedding invitation? Something something spaghetti coding.
Plus OP wouldn't know that the invitation stops server transfers, it isn't written on the invites, and it doesn't tell you when you get it.
It's not uncommon to have expired retainers with stuff on them, usually people have crafting stuff on those, and only re-new them when they want to go on a crafting spree.
A wedding inv. can easily get lost in the mess.

What, you never heard of someone saving an extra wedding invite from their own wedding as a souvenir?

Do that on a rl wedding. In game you already have a bird, a glam, a cake, a ring with the date. And if it was so important, don't leave it in an extra retainer and blame SE for your mistake.

Never hired any additional retainers. Have you not tried releasing the retainer with one of the Retainer Vocates? Could work if there aren't any funky prerequisites. You'll likely lose/discard all the items however.

You can't release a retainer if there's any items in said retainer. And I think you have to have an active subscription for it to be able to release it.
