I hope it isn't true. We're already told that a lot of things cannot happen due to limitations. Those limitations will only be worse if the game has to be developed for yet another platform.

Xbox one X is stronger than a PS4 pro though isn't it. Don't see how adding another console that's stronger than most peoples PC will cause limitations also bringing in Xbox players will do nothing but good for the game. More players to enjoy FF14.

And the regular Xbox is weaker than the regular ps4. I don't believe there can be 1x only games.

It seems a little late in the cycle to be doing this, there's probably going to be a new generation of consoles in the next year or so.
Maybe the rating is generation-agnostic and being rated for Xbox One means it's rated for whatever the next Xbox is? That would be ideal.
The Xbox One isn't that weaker than the usual PS4 so no problems. A Switch release will never happen as the Switch would basically be the PS3 version if at all. The One X is the most powerful console and could run the game on max settings quite easily. I have a One X and FFXIV on it would be amazing. Microsoft recently is doing a lot of stuff to get games and developers that formerly were exclusive to other consoles onto their systems and I could see that happen for FXIV, too, but I find it a bit odd that they didn't do this directly with the pre-order of Shadowbringers.
IF there was a planned Xbox release Fan Fest would have been the perfect place to make such an announcement or Microsoft spills the beans just because. Since there wasn't one, I'm going to have to say this might be an oversight on part of the website.
Last I think was said was Microsoft wont drop the cost to play online and wants exclusive servers as well as control of content/events.
While they are expecting new players for ShB, that's just a general expectation. I wouldn't correlate Chaos being split with this for now as Chaos, last time I looked at numbers, was only like 1% smaller than Primal. It got split because it was having issues during the launch period of Stormblood and if they didn't split it, but still got people in with the new expansion, the game would be even more unplayable than it was.Might be why the not super large EU was split? Expecting a lot more players soon maybe? I feel like they'd announce Xbox release earlier in the time-schedule though for more hype, rather than let's say a month away "oh yeah lol, it's going to be on xbox too". Or I guess it's scheduled later and just did it now to help with the first week expansion overflow.
Also another reason why Japan didn't split for it, since Xbox is not as popular?
More players is great, although it makes me fear for housing even more... XD.
It could be a sign of Xbone getting a version, especially now they've opened the space, but it's probably more likely that it just had it coming.
This is Sony's approach, not the one from Microsoft (anymore). Microsoft is heavily heading towards crossplay for quite some time now.

I wont get your hopes up. Microsoft still charges xbox live for f2p games. Until that restriction is removed for games that run their own server there will be no ffxiv on xbox, same for nintendo however with nintendo I believe its a hardware limitation.
