5.0 Combat changes: What do you expect?

I expect homogenization between healers. No long will SCH be the shielder, WHM will be the main heal, and AST could be either. Moving forward, we need to establish all the healers as being able to fill the role, not unlike how DPS are homogenized but have different resource management.


This means WHM will need to get:
-A shield GCD spell (Wall?) and AoE shield (like Succor)
-Instant cast nuke (Water?) so they can weave oGCDs.

SCH will need to get:
-A strong AoE damage spell like Holy/Gravity (Meltdown?)
-Stronger sustained AoE healing (make ET a 5s recast)

AST will need:
-Removal of their stances and get an Adlo/Succor equivalent, keep aspected benefic/helios for Regens.

We need to be able to have any healer fill any role, the same way we can have BLM/RDM/SMN fill caster, NIN SAM DRG MNK fill melee. All 3 healers must have equivalency instead of specialization. Just simply let them get different raid utility and resource management.

Regardless, all healers can already fill the role just fine, none of the classes have a problem healing content. The problem is how well each class does things that aren't healing. Both AST and SCH have ways to boost the party damage while simultaneously doing more damage on top of healing.

WHM contributes nothing to party damage and, in practice, does less damage than the other two because of mostly, as you mentioned, lack of good weaving options.

Homogenizing heals is what got us into this mess in the first place. We can only hope SE has picked up on that and is engineering a way out of this mess...
