Your Ideas for a Full BLU

Let me preface this by saying this isn't a petition/rage post or anything, just to throw around ideas you may have for a non-limited version of BLU!

Here's my ideas! Open to criticism and building. Thought with BLU being a support caster in mind:

LB3: Limit Glove! ...or otherwise glamourable, based on abilities primals use after failed DPS checks.

Mighty Guard: Changed from a stance to a strong personal barrier/1-move mitigation on a long cooldown timer, for mitigating most moves you'd survive at full-health anyways, not instant death moves. Probably other exceptions as well.

White Wind: Changed from being a strong AOE burst heal to being a low potency aoe regen with raid utility (maybe similar to aoe AST arrow).

^^^^Alternatively, for WW and MG, a job gauge could be implemented which allows you to use either WW or MG as a strong AOE heal/mitigation. Maybe Off-guard could be a strong AOE damage buff/boss debuff as a third option. This would allow WW and MG to be fairly strong without needing to nerf them too badly.

Transfusion could be an instant cast raise, but still KO yourself. You'd need to use it very sparingly (maybe you're the last alive, with an LB3 available. You could clutch raise a healer for a healer LB3).

I'd love to hear other ideas!

So ive posted this is in basically all the BLU threads so far, ( also im on mobile on a bus rn so forgive typos and such)

I think the best solution for BLU is a "duty set" which is a preselected set of abilities out of all of the abilities blu could learn, which all would be give 100% learn rate, and would be the set of abilities that are balanced around party and raid play. The rest of the abilities would stay for carnival/ open world, but the duty set would be balanced around current raid play and have 100% learn rate to accommodate ease of use in endgame content. The duty set would be updated with abilities at the same rate as regular jobs learn new skills, and new skills would be learned like blu skills are currently learned.

My idea for a "Duty Set" is similar, but has a bit more to it.

I posted it in one of the more recent BLU threads.

But the idea was basically, you had a "Duty Set" as a specific skill set that is saved, that can never be deleted. In it, is a specific set of abilities that you learn throughout your level 1-50 experience, either through job quests saying "Go learn X before I let you do this quest", from the job quests themselves pitting you against an enemy that uses an ability with 100% learn rate, or from Whalaqee Totems as rewards to job quests.

However, this is not the only interaction with it, to keep in line with BLU's theme, you also have a limited list of skills you can swap in for each particular slot in the Duty Set.

    For example:

Say skill 1 in the Duty Set is naturally Glower a 130 potency skill that deals magical damage to all targets in a line.

You could then have the capacity to swap it out with say, Drill Cannon that would be a 125 potency skill that deals Piercing damage to all targets in a line. Which would deal slightly more damage than Glower if you had say DRG in the party providing 5% piercing debuff.

You could have Sharpened Knife in that slot that would be 120 potency skill that deals Slashing damage to all targets in a line. Thus dealing more damage than Glower in the case of having a 10% Slashing debuff available.

With other skills being balanced for situational or preferential usage (Such as how the damage is applied, for example Fire Angon being TAoE instead of a Line AoE)

But each skill being limited based on what its slot is based around within this "Duty Set". Like, skill 1 might be your filler DPS skill. Skill 2 might be a damage amp skill like Off-Guard that you maintain 100% uptime of. Skill 3 might be a DoT skill. Skill 4 might be a CD skill that sets up a combo (Such as Ram's Voice/Aqua Breath) with skill 5 being the CD skill that does the combo (Such as Dragon's Voice/High Voltage) etc.

With every other set being completely flexible in what skills you put in it, just like current. Just with the "Duty Set" being balanced around having specific types of skills - Potentially with having the slots even level gated so as to sync like normal jobs.

The Duty Set being automatically activated when entering Sync'd content as well as current content (So stuff like FATEs, Exploratory Missions, Duty Finder when not using Undersized Party option)

Thus every BLU will get a mandatory base skillset to use in relevant content, but with the option to go out searching for additional skills in which to customize their own set up. In addition to being able to put together a bunch of OP sets for messing around in the Overworld or in Undersized Party duties as well as for participating in BLU specific content such as Masked Carnivale.

theres a simple way to handle this.

at lvl 60 (as i assume shadowbringers is the earliest we get something like this) once you have learned all the necessary spells you can go into a quest to get a new bluemage jobstone, this will make you into a BLU with a balanced set of skills like any other job and can lvl to 80.

this is to prevent the overpowered spells from being used on current content, specifically enemies outside of instanced content at lvl 80.

    so again you'd have 2 blue mage's

lvl 60 limited BLU and lvl 80 unlimited BLU

Duty set and limited sets would work.

I quite like the idea of the duty set being slightly customizable though. Say 20 rigidly set actions, 5 actions with limited swapping and 3 or 4 totally free pick what you like slots.

Limited swapping is say 'this slot must be an AoE, but you can pick any of these 3 abilities with different secondary effects: one stuns, one poisons, one weakens.' That sort of thing.
