Then get on the "DOWN WITH ANIMA, UP WITH ALTERNATIVES" bandwagon!
As well, if you play this game often and are pro-active and goal-oriented, then it will often feel like work.
As long as the game is fun, no problem. Grinding the same leve over and over to accumulate points to buy potions? Not fun. Add variety, as I already stated, and I would support the idea.
No, a game does not have to "feel like work", it can instead "feel like fun".
Then I guess I need to get out of MMO's. If I want to do something and I know where to go and what to do, I'll actively start parties, handle teleports (anima management), spam all of my Linkshells with recruit messages, shout in town, send multiple tells to people on my friend list, etc. All on a daily basis, sometimes multiple times. Someone's gotta do it, and no it's never fun, especially with dwindling server populations.
I think we've established some good facts here.
1. Anima regen rates suck.
2. 15 minutes on a Chocobo to get somewhere sucks.
3. Existing methods to get company seals really sucks.
4. Having no teleport spell sucks.
5. Spending seals to get anima would suck @ss.
6. MMOs that aren't fun suck.
Where am I going with this? I don't know, but I'm super glad SE decided to start charging us in January!!![]()
