It would match my name slightly better and I like the ears and the skin and hair color combinations, but I've been a cat for like eight years now and I like my height and insane-sounding /laugh emote.

A little tempted to go and try Hrothgar, but I also do like my Catboy here. If the Hrothgar standard pose is shifted to a straight-backed, upright stance, and their bodies are either entirely covered in fur or furless/hairless from the neck down, that'd also help make them a lot more palatable of an option. Part of me likes to think of a Hrothgar Warrior, Paladin, or Dark Knight, though I do have a pretty hard time picturing them as my favorite jobs (Samurai, Healers, Caster DPS).

Definitely changing to Viera the moment I'm able. Rolled a Viera on an FF tabletop RPG some half a decade back and I'm pleased that I'll be able to play as the selfsame one online with the introduction of the females.

I bet a Lion based Samurai could look epic - confusingly it might make them look so big and strong that you might want to tank as your Samurai lol.

I can also imagine the sad cat in a tent look of a caster/healer... So.... You might win some and lose some there haha.

Very true, though to be fair I've spent most of this expansion as a Samurai. Usually I can't stand doing Melee combat, but Samurai just works for me in that way.

I think one of the big allures of Hrothgar, from a bit of an OOC point of view, is that I think there would be an intangible feeling of community and brotherhood with them. It feels like they'll appeal to a fairly niche segment of the playerbase, and races like that tend to have micro-communities where people know one another and such. In a game like FFXIV where the community is very positive, a tight-knit community like that would be a nice experience. As a Miqo'te I do not find that feeling at all. There's just so many it's impossible to develop that kind of brotherhood.

I was planning to, yes. My main is the final fantasy incarnation of an old RP character and even if Miqos are really cute and sassy, their movement and poses are sometimes still a bit to bashfull and wild which is cool but doesn't really suit my character. I hope that Viera might feature a more elegant and smooth animation but I will try it out on a twink first before changing my main. Especially because I plan on turning him into a female as long as we don't have male Viera and I'll have to see if I can actually pretend for the model to be a male, not a female. We'll see when they are out!
