Viera males should be smaller like Au Ra females

We are not talking about a race FFXIV created first, but Matsuno came up with in his Ivalice games. I ask you to leave creative space for them actually to do Viera how they envisioned them.

Agreed. In the end, although they will probably put some designs out there if they choose to add the males, they will not do something which radically diverges from the series' creator's wishes, so whatever is put out there will probably be run by him first.

As for people stating the Viera should be shorter because male rabbits are smaller by a tiny bit than the females (again, varies by subspecies), or because they're matriarchal (so what? that's not a size related thing), I don't think either is a particularly compelling reason. I thought the radical dimorphism of au ra was bad enough, I don't want a similar thing with Viera. I'd rather they didn't compound the same error by repeating it.

Personally, I do not want them to simply project some players' wishes for "small, soft" males onto Viera if they don't think it fits. At most, as a compromise, I would say allow one of the subraces to go have a bigger height range and softer muscle tone options, since adding a fully dimorphic subrace like midlanders/highlanders is going to be challenging. At the same time, they're looking into expanding character customisation options, so this may well become achievable with midlanders, elezen and miqo'te, all of whom you can already tailor to look twinky. There doesn't "need" to be a small, soft male race - some people just want that and so exaggerate the inability to implement it with existing races, likely because of just how androgynous/feminine they'd like the character to be.

If you look at real humans that live in the jungle, they are rarely muscly but relatively slender. Now this is not real life lmao, but i can imagine having a slender body with legs that indicate speed wouldn't be world breaking. I can see the opinion of both camps though, if we just GOT a male viera my urge to see a mystery would bascially be stilled tbh, been wanting to see one since 2006..

Yes, except the humans who do so in the real world are not solitary hunters/wardens, like the Viera males, but live in tribes, which the Viera males specifically do not. I don't expect them to radically diverge from their female counterparts.

Also a lot more development work. However, the use of sliders set at different min/max levels could achieve it, I suppose.

Just because you have a lot of what players want, doesn't mean you shouldn't add more. It means you should, because that is proven to be what they want...

As for those implying that everyone wants cute characters because of perverse reasons, those are your own prejudices and don't represent everyone's views. While I won't deny that there are people like that, some people don't spend their days ERPing and just want a cute character. By the same logic, nothing cute should ever be added to any game simply because these individuals exist. Of course this is the case for many games, including many SE titles... but to exclude cuteness from FF and FFXIV would change the brand quite a bit... and not for the better in my opinion.

I mean they show that people tend to prefer characters anywhere between lalafell to midlander in builds. Viera females are already diverging a bit from that group, being a bit nearer to elezen in size, and a good reason as to why elezen aren't played too often is likely to do with their stiffness and gangliness, which Viera femmes don't suffer from. Unless you're precise in your definition of what "cute" is, it doesn't really mean much given the variety in the most popular male race picks.

Otherwise I am all for a shorter male viera. Real world dictate there are ACTUALLY short guys. Not every guys are over 6 feet tall!!!

Lol to be entirely fair these are rabbits, with rabbits generally being herbivores and all. As wild as it would be to see a bunny hunting for prey I'd be very surprised if they're not vegetarian.

Rabbits do not walk upright and wield weapons of metal, wood or arcane. Or speak Eorzean.

Haha, this! There's also Firion (age 18), the whole cast of FFIII are kids, Bartz looks maybe 17 even though he's supposed to be 20, Cloud is 21 in VII, 15-21 in Before Crisis and Crisis Core, Squall is 17, Zidane is 16, Tidus is 17, Vaan is 17, Noctis looks the same age too even though he's 20. So yeah, I don't think wanting something a bit more teen looking is that bad or out of character for the series, the whole of FF is basically just the trope of teenage kids saving the world.

Personally something more akin to that is what I would like to see for the male Viera, I especially like the first one with the mask. I don't really want them to be shorter and childlike.
What I would prefer is for there to be minimal sexual dimorphism, having the males and females to be the same height and having both be lean but athletic looking, like ballet dancers. That includes not only build and physique but also reflecting that in the animations.

If they create male Viera in the near future, what i don't believe in, the Viera males should have the same size as the female Viera.
i think small Bunnyman would not fit the whole Viera lore.
And yeah.. i know, a great part gives a *piiiiip* about lore because of the male Miqo'te blablabla, but you can't break the lore for everything just to get what you want.
