    I'm not sure if it's exactly analogous as you still have 3 flavours of cookies to eat just that they increased the available flavours of croissants and cupcakes by 1 each.

    On a subscription meal plan, as a cookie lover, you'd be understandably a bit grumpy to see your fav food category flavour options stay the same.

    One could argue that croissants, cupcakes and cookies are all just baked flour and you could just eat the others since your subscription meal plan avails you to all the options. But personally as a croissant-lover, I dislike eating cupcakes and have limited fondness for cookies so I can empathise.

    I hope cookie lovers get your new cookie flavour next season!

    Look, the vast majority of us aren't mad that physical ranged DPS got a new addition. We just think healers should have gotten something too.

    To use this justification you have to divide DPS into a subrole of a subrole. Because DPS have gotten new additions every expansion and even outside of expansions. This is a bit like saying "Well it's been 6 years since we've had a new pet-based shielding healer". We also only have 1 dex-based melee, so maybe next expac in 2021 needs to add 2 more dex-based melees to round things out.

    It's easy to declare it fair when your role has had the most additions since the game's launch by far - 5 with never more than 2 years between, compared to 1 with over half a decade between additions.

    If you can answer that question, you'll understand why people want a new healer too. And 6 years is a pretty long content drought for anything.
    Well, because having a new job is FUN. But here comes the dilemma; Should we rather have 1 new role job every expansion (1 tank, healer, ranged, melee and caster = 5 new jobs), or just 2-3 new jobs and more content? In the end it's all about invested time and resources, and I don't think it would be good for the game to invest extra resources into another job. I'd rather get new/better content.

    So again, having new jobs is fun, but it's a lot better to have new content and balance the actual jobs, so for me, new jobs can wait.

    Yes, there's an identity crisis. That's why I would rather get the actual jobs balanced instead of a new rushed role :/

    At Release 1.0 every kid got a cookie all 7 of them.
    At 2.0 5 of those kids got another cookie and 2 more kids were added. Part way through another kid was added, and out of the 9 kids 5 got cookies.
    At 3.0 3 more kids were added, all 12 kids got cookies.
    At 4.0 2 more kids were added, and out of the 14 kids 8 got cookies. Argue what you want out blue mage, but 15 kids now.
    Coming at 5.0 there is 2 more kids and out of 18 kids 15 got cookies. Except the 3 that didn't get cookies also didn't get cookies last time. Last time those 3 kids got cookies, every other kid got them as well. And out of the 6 Kids that didn't get cookies during 4.0 3 got cookies and a new friend. And the 8-9 kids that got cookies last time got cookies again and a new friend.

    So at this point, the May Combat Update pretty much has to give 15 kids one cookie and make the remaining 3 kids their favorite cookie. I want my snickerdoodle now... I was ok with a sugar, chocolate chip, or peanut butter cookie before when I thought I would get a new healer... but now I want my snickerdoodle, since last time the cookie giver ran short cookies we were nice and understanding about running out of materials and not wanting to make sub-par cookies for us (development resources needed for 3+ new jobs, and wanted to do a better job balancing).

    ... not sure what you're going on about but everyone but healers surely didn't get something new this time. Unless you are still insisting all dps get a new job any time any dps is added, which again, is wrong. I main melee dps. Obviously there are more melee than anything else so I'm set, but I certainly didn't get a new job this time as you're implying.

    The only reason I feel this analogy is apt is because yeah, you're acting like children. The kids were given reason WHY they don't get cookies and they're like NO, THAT'S NOT IT, IT'S BECAUSE YOU HATE US! And they continued to roll around on the floor.

    It's all about perspective; I like PLD, and in Heavensward I got a DRK cookie that I've never asked.
    In Stormblood I didn't get any new cookie, but I got PLD improvements, so I'm lot happier now without cookies.

    We need a cookie-free diet! Let's improve the actual jobs instead of replacing the pain with more and more cookies!

    Mhm, tho many are listing them out based on sub-roles since SE has done so on in-game character profile and duty finder.

    Since honestly, one could even start to argue how certain DPS are more single-target or AoE focused, direct damage or DoT. All of these change how they are played.

    I'm playing SCH main since HW and I was fine with no heal/tank for SB, because their reasoning of both roles needing to be balanced first was fine for me.
    I really looked forward to them reworking the healer jobs and/or healing as a whole. There were plenty of great ideas floating around for that as well. I really thought they were going to rethink AST being a copy of WHM/SCH + utility, as that was a problem since its release.

    But then SB came along and what I got was not a rework, but SCH hit by the nerf bat so hard in every aspect of its gameplay, it was just so exhausing to get anything done with it. Of course there were a few shiny new abilities (which is expected) but at least for SCH those felt clunky at 4.0 only to be kind of "fixed" later on...
    They did not solve any of the inherent problems with the healing jobs synergy nor with combat design, which leaves healers to DPS most of the time by spamming 1-3 buttons (yay - so fun)!

    Now that the healers get shafted again and for the same reason as last time I just feel so dissappointed. I really hope all the healing jobs get a serious rework and not just bandaid "fixes" with some new shiny stuff that doesn't solve any of their problems as a whole, but I'm really not counting on it.
    If SCH only gets the nerf bat again for 5.0, I will be quitting healing altogether this expansion.

    I just want to add to that, I'm happy for rDPS getting another option and I'm not salty for dancer being DPS, it fits the job tbh. I just feel that if not a new job, than healers should AT LEAST have gotten some kind of recognition and a glimse of their plans for the role at fan fest.
    The way we were just all out ignored was disheartening.
