Yes please. :c
This is my first time posting in this forum
I've come to show my support for both Male Viera and Female Hrothgar to be considered as playable.
Rarity in lore is very weak reasoning for gender-locking these races.
Male Keeper's of the Moon Miqo'te are meant to be equally as rare as male Viera.
There are lots of ways using the Lore you could make them playable, such as the differences between shards
The game once celebrated for it's removal of gender-locking Roes' and Miqo' is now falling for those same mistakes and causing discourse within the community.
Yes, this exactly!
Listen, I'm mostly on the M!Viera wagon (that's what I'd personally play, given the option) but by God I would have so many female Hrothgar alts. Buff, beefy tiger-furry chicks who could and would fully step on me given the opportunity? Yes please. I'll take twelve.
I even have friends who've said they'd resub to the game if female Hrothgar were a thing. Sure, they'd probably be a minority race the way Roegadyn women are, but the Roegadame community is extremely devoted to their little niche and I'm sure Hrothgals would be just as loyal and glad to have their space.
Yes to cheetara!!
If I had to choose between male Viera and female Hrothgar I would choose the Viera, but here we are with Hrothgar / Ronso who DO canonically have females and yet they're nowhere to be seen. My wife (who casually plays on a Free Trial currently) was visibly disappointed when there were no female Hrothgar. She likes her Mi'qote, but she prefers to look cool over looking "cute", so being a lioness warrior was a very appealing idea to her (that is currently shut down). In other games we play together she frequently plays a strong warrior-type character, so being a "pretty cat person" wasn't ideal for her. She also didn't care for the Roegadyn's looks (particularly the faces) and thought the Lalafell weren't "cool", and the problems she had with the Mi'qote carried over to Hyur and Elezen. I'm having a hard time getting her to play simply because she doesn't like how she looks - especially during cutscenes.
The North American market has largely had games with intensive character personalization at its core. Limiting personalization options is hurting the chances of bringing more North American gamers into the fold because if they don't see something to play they like it becomes more of an "I dunno, I guess" rather than I "I want to try out my _____!" Square Enix is doing well having most of its customization options be unlockable through gameplay and achievements, but they need to be considerate of their audience and be more inclusive so that more people are drawn in rather than turned off to the game when they see they can't play what they want. "Lore" may be a satisfying reason to some hardcore fans, but hardcore fans alone will not keep the game afloat - there needs to be broader appeal and it's hard to explain "lore" to a new player on the character selection screen who's already becoming disappointed with the game because they can't be who they want to be. FFXIV is great, but choices like this will hurt the game's longevity - not help it.
Just signed up to voice that I would love female Hrothgar. I always gravitate towards the stronger/more ferocious female characters in games, I am a newer player of FF14 but my intention was to have a female Roegadyne alt. I would instead have loved to make a female Hrothgar alt, I am very interested in being able to do this one day, please add female Hrothgar!
I would totally love to see both male viera and female hrothgar added at some point, that would be awesome
Signed, but can we not have the Hrothgar slouched over?

Personally I've never played much of the other FF titles beyond 14, 11, 9, and a bit of tactics but, from what I've understood Ronso had their own female counterparts. I do enjoy the idea of a more unique shape that Hrothgar bring to 14 but... I feel as if the Male only implementation is rather poor. While there are slightly more burly female body types in 14, Hrothgar females would bring an entirely new dynamic for role playing, adventuring, and armor. Beyond that, a bit more representation of those body types would do a lot in encouraging other members on the LGBT spectrum as they could play their either preferred body type or actual one.
Beastmen were a fantastic concept to add to Shadowbringers, but with the genderlocks to each race it feels as if FF14 (consciously or not) is reinforcing stereotypes rather than bringing more options to the table. I really want to see some lovely, cuddly, strong Beastwomen too!
