Male Viera as a playable character! show your support

If anything, most of the support posts here have been nothing but respectful (albeit I admit there's a handful of morons who can't articulate properly). Also, you can't argue that we have female Highlanders because "those were the races when the game started" since the lore stated Highlanders were exclusively male. They only added the extra genders on said races BECAUSE we voiced how sexist it was to genderlock stuff (and still is, things considering). Genderlocking stuff based on "lore" (specially lore you design and own and which you changed once since it's for a game) is absurd.

Do you have proof where highlanders were exclusively male? There has been NO OTHER FF that has had male viera designs... they would have to create one from scratch. That is a ton of resource and time to release that.

The proof is the hundreds of people who played 1.0 and know from experience that highlander was male only. obviously.

Definitely yes! I didn't expect myself to be so disappointed upon hearing the full confirmation, but I was, so I'd really like the option to be a male viera if there's even a sliver of possibility.

Males don't exist, theres no sprite outside of fanart anywhere that there has been a male Viera.

Males exist in FF12 if anything it'd be more reasonable for them to exist from there. Seeing as the males simply live in different settlements, they aren't bound to protect the wood, they just live separately. Also all female highlanders were just dark-skinned(with the exception of minfillia) midlander women. They had no unique models in game, and that was the explanation I believe, that only highlander man were stouter than midlander men.

Also by that logic we should have Hrothgar/Ronso women as historically they've been a thing there's even a sidequest about hooking up a lonely guy with possible suitors and one of them is a female ronso I believe.

All female Highlanders that existed, to my knowledge as a 1.0 player, used Midlander models and weren’t really called Highlanders. The only real example we have of Highladies being Yda and Minfilia but looking at them you wouldn’t even be able to tell. The reason? The women stayed in Gyr Abania to protect their land so no models were ever created or needed. They then said after the events that led up to 2.0 that the women started to leave to persue other ventures, such as being sellswords rather than stay.

Their background is very similar to male Viera and there were no Highlander Women with Highlander models in game until 2.0.
