Indeed. And giving the limitations, I'd rather get the variety of two different races, than be denied one for the sake of avoiding genderlocking.

I dunno if I would in every case. Though if we're going with one gender only races the Qu would be awesome!

Currently the number of players playing male Miqote actively is more than double the number of players playing the entire Roe race. This clearly shows more demand for humans with animal ears than buff races. Male Au Ra, the most beastial race/gender combo at the moment has just over half the number of male Miqote players.

Even if it weren't Viera which has decades long history, and say some other generic human with animal ears race, if more people would enjoy playing it than a seperate mono-gender race, then even if its boring lore wise it's the right decision to me.

That all said I'm not unhappy with Hrothgar, they look awesome. I just am not optimistic about the number of people who will play them.

For real though, is it so horrible to try to have everyone mostly happy or at least content? Saying this kind of thing comes off as petty-- "How dare you ask for something in a game you pay monthly, for the base game and xpacs and might sometimes even spend in what amounts to a cash shop when I got what I wanted and I can laugh in the face of who didnt?"

The devs themselves are humans, and I strongly oppose harassing them for such things. Square Itself is a business, and you have every right to disagree with their practices being a paying customer. I'd like to remind people SE is no indie company, and if they tried to bite more than they could chew it's their own fault for making unreasonable demands of their employers. For myself, I'd rather they put off ShB release 6 or 12 months if it meant getting more quality.

Have I mentioned that we'll have to pay for a expansion that might be incomplete on release day, and most likely have bugs and glitches, some even game breaking, because the devs may be rushing? After the whole "the hats won't be ready for realease day on the new races" and possibly the genderlocking, I have to wonder what else they are having to cut corners on to push this game out. Yeah, patches are a thing, sure, but nobody wants to log in on release day, all hyped to start the new msq/level/whatever to find they won't be able to play because the game is crashing and it wasn't beta tested enough.

It’s one thing to have criticism over something, directed at the devs. It’s another to be a child and whine over people making said criticism. I don’t see any death threats, and if they were removed, good. They don’t belong here. But the valid criticism/complaints do. Troll threads like this just intended to poke at others do not.

I'm not against genderlocking, male miqote and female roes was definitely the right choice at the time, to expand the racial options in a way that made sense given resources and lore.
And given more time and resources, unlocking Viera and Hrothgar could well be the best thing to do. But right now, I'm glad we're getting Hrothgar and I think the variety is worth it.

I've spoken to many people who would change to Hrothgar, I've also seen some (albeit small) polls pitting male Viera against male Hrothgar, and the Hrothgar have come out slightly ahead.

I don't get why Square as a company doesn't allocate more resources to XIV's development, the game's been going for a LONG time and has mad a LOT of money for them it just seems odd that they're content with rushing them through development of these barely two year expansions without more support besides throwing them some change for the fanfests. It seems like the devs are always in a crunch over something when they shouldn't be, they've been the most consistent dev team square has had in terms of quality control on their products.

Re-read the thread again. It isn't just, "I like what the devs have and am happy with it". The original OP is saying they hope other people DON'T get what they want.

After the behavior of the community I hope you (the devs) stick to your guns and keep what you've already made. Don't reward bad behavior and make more work for yourselves.

It would be perfectly normal to celebrate the stuff you like in a thread. what I am saying is rude is specifically saying other people have "bad behavior" for wanting stuff.
