Gee I don't know they had 4 years to figure out how to resolve the development corner they drove themselves into. Well... 6 now. I might as well just roll out the red carpet for the dps, they get babied every expansion anyway.

And yeah we're asking for a new healer. It is getting... exceptionally stale. Healers spend more time dpsing than healing anyway. When people are asking for a new healer we aren't asking for it to continue to have these problems. I'm an AST main and I take issue with several things with it.

Then rather than a new healer that will have the same problems, shouldnt the big uproar be about getting the healing role itself fixed? Personally, I would rather have not had a new tank either. One of the reason I stopped tanking after raiding as PLD for 4 years was the ever increasing drive towards "MUH DEEPS" as a tank, over actually like, having to be a tank. Not as in just spamming aggro combos, but like. You don't tank in this game. You are a DPS with high defense. If I want to be a dps, I'll just play a dps, and thats what I did in Stormblood.

And frankly, if they can change WHM significantly enough for the better, it may as well be a new healing job. Its terrible right now (from a design standpoint. It has the least utility, the least dps, and the most healing power, which isnt needed because of the lack of damage going out that cant be burst healed or avoided by the other healers mechanics entirely.)

Actually this I heavily agree with but healing wasn't even addressed at the fanfest or else the healer community wouldn;t be in the uproar that it is. The only confirmation we got at all was "no healer", and white mage being easier to play than it already is despite the glaring flaws.

Oh it plays fine. It doesnt play great, and people prefer sch/ast cuz utility and dps. just like sam is also adequate, but not preferred.

I’m upset we were overlooked as healers as well. I feel insulted their reasoning for doing so was for the sake of balance, when they had 4 years to get their **** together. If they can’t do it in 4 years, I seriously doubt it’s ever going to happen. Also them citing balance for no new heals when things still aren’t perfect between the tanks and dps subclasses, yet they still managed to throw them bones this expansion with new jobs only adds insult to injury.

In my opinion, the balance excuse might be a facade and they actually have no idea what to do as far as a new healer concept goes, as they’ve veritably painted themselves in a corner with healers being a regen or shield healer. Or both, which is why we were gifted Astro.

People are just over reacting to this whole healer thing. There are still 3 to choose from which is not bad by any means... Just because there isn't a NEW one announced doesn't mean there is a lack of variety already. I mean I'm a BRD main and I NEVER once asked for a 3rd ranged dps.

You can even make the argument that the game doesn't even ever "need" new jobs but it should look for ways to make new gameplay experiences...Though I do understand this is the bed the devs have made when it comes to announcing new jobs for expansions.

There is absolutely NO reason a player who loves FFXIV should be quitting over this. I get the disappointment but honestly, this is an overreaction by the fans.

Fine then, imagine a room full of employees all getting bonus checks, except the one guy that is the backbone of the whole team. He asks why he doesn't get one and is told he is paid enough (when he gets paid the same as everyone else).

I understand people are upset that they can't expand further into the role they like, but this, plus the new races, people just need to calm down. Though I think enough posters are saying that already.

When ones wage is at the tier cap, that's pretty much exactly what happens.
Life doesn't always seem fair. But crying won't get you your way, nor extra money on the cheque.
