    It's all about flexibility.

For example you can make a Viera with almost no chest, long hair, but a slightly masculine face. Could be a bunny boy. Could be a bunny girl. Could be bunny neutral. All up to you.

Can have the lore say that Viera have their own sense of fashion for all genders. So if you're playing as a "bunny boy" it still uses female gear models in the game.

It would actually be really cool because we already have lots of male and female options.
This gives a more gender-doesn't-matter option.

And same for a female-esque hrothgar.

But genders matter in Viera lore, a lot actually.

Given that Viera society is an inherently matriarchal society where the males are just used for breeding and defence, I would say that gender does indeed matter in Viera society.

from ff wiki: "Final Fantasy XIV gives exposition to the elusive male viera, who are virtually identical at birth to females; only upon maturing they are able to be identified gender wise."

So there is lore saying they are almost identical.
Can make up lore saying that some males choose to dress/live as "females" to remain with them. And others choose to be more masculine and leave.

Same lore is also stating that when the Male Viera come to breed they take every boy having reach maturity as wards.

Which is a perfect environment to add subtle lore about how Viera that don't "identify" as a boy, aren't considered as "boys" and allowed to remain.
It actually opens up a lot of interesting possibilities for quest lines and additional nuanced lgbtq+ lore. And again, adds some nice diversity to the game.

Read again what you write yourself " upon maturing they are able to be identified gender wise "

We do not play baby character but matured one. Do not choose to read only what you want. A male is a male, a female is a female.

Whew, lad...that's a topic I didn't think someone was bold enough to submit. I see where you're going with this, but I'm going to say that this just ain't gonna happen. It would take up way more time than just having what they're able to work with now. As one user said, this is a can of worms that's best left unopened.
