SAM was a perfect fit for the eastern theme we had in SB.I am FULLY aware of the 'RDPS' breakdown and how they were upset. My opinion was that we did not need to get SAM at all in SB. THAT should have been an RDPS slot. (Sorry SAMs... but it should have been an RDPS.) And MCH needs to be fixed.
They've had FOUR YEARS to balance healers and they have failed. They continue to whine they they don't have us balanced and they refuse to provide us new content and leave us where we are, giving a 10th dps (yes, split them up however you want, it's still a 10th dps) and a 4th tank... create a limited class... and have failed to figure out what to do with healers to fix their mistakes. Healers have a right to come into the forums and say 'do something we are tired of this'. That is what these forums are for. They are making the players UNHAPPY.
So while I don't care about healing but will be happy for them they add one stop throwing bullshit around because you didn't get what you want.
I don't care what the class is 'called' I'm just going from the 'class balance' pov. I don't mind the SAM at all. Even if people rag on it atm for not being balanced well for the precious 'meta' (I'm not a hard core raider at all, I avoid savage content, though I do the rest of the raid stuff up to it.) I'm simply pointing out that the balance of classes for dps breakdown of meleedps, rdps, magicdps etc... that people are going on about. That is all. SB had TWO dps added. One of them should have been a RDPS to balance things. It wasn't... so now when a tank is added... instead of having things balanced where the healers are being brought up to speed along with the tanks, the RDPS have to be brought up... leaving the healers out for 2 full expansions.

See how this goes? Also, not all dps are the same. Most people who I know who play casters can't stand melee dps. I for sure can't stand casters as someone who has enjoyed melee more. As for tanks, I played PLD for 4 years, until 4.0. They ruined pld for me in stormblood, and it was the lesser choice in heavensward between drk and war. So don't act like healers are the only one who dont get what they want. Unless it's whm. They really messed up whm....
Actually they got NIN in 2.4 so it would have made more sense to add a RDPS instead of SAM since SAM is #4 while RDPS still had 2, even though they had gotten MCH in HW. So it was more of a business decision than actually trying to balance it out since RDM was also #3. It really sucks that healers are not getting anything new. To me, out of all the roles I've played, healers are the most samesie feeling group. Drg, monk, nin, and sam all feel different when I play them same with the tanks. But there is really something in the dna of healers in this game that really doesn't make them feel all that fresh from one another. Maybe its because all healers have more or less the same base skills. We have the aoe heals, the one person heal, and some quick instant cures. Yes, the function a little different in each class but the pattern of healing just doesn't feel that different. Yes, healers have their own gimmicks. But for instance the aoe heals are all more or less (if not the same) in cast time. The only thing that changes is if your shielding or if your regening or neither. And not to mention. We all more or less dps the same way. Sch might have a few more things to toss out but really once shadowflare is down its the same.
Prolly sound like a heretic here, but they need to fix this. I want there to be more healer identity. A fourth class could have fixed this.
A 4th Class doesn't address the issue at hand. Right now Scholar and Astra feel unique between them with unique mechanics. The core problem at hand with healers is in fact White Mage having virtually no real job mechanic. They feel the exact same as Conj just with more skills. It would be like Dragoon without Deep Dive and Eye's of the Dragon. I think they chose to not add a 4th so that they can change White to be unique.
