I wouldn't be so upset about no male Viera if the Hrothgar were actually attractive

While I am sorely disappointed in the lack of male Viera (who isn't?) I think I would be OK with the Hrothgar if they offered a variety of body types. The fact they seem locked into this overly bulky/beastly/that's so 90's body type is what bothers me.

It would make sense to provide options beyond short/tall but a leaner body type, so you could at least make the character attractive. What if one tribe weren't warriors? They had a more leaner and toned body vs the warriors who are the more hulky and bulky?

I mean the Ronso in FFX all had a variety of body types, these all just seem really clunky. Look, I was raging the other night about no male Viera...and I realized it wasn't simply because they won't appear, but more so that the Hrothgar just isn't attractive at all.

I agree that the Hrothgar look just a tad too chunky, but don't pretend 'body types' are a fad or a trend that goes out of date please.

Attractive is a very subjective term; what is attractive to some may not be attractive to others. I think you meant to say "conventionally attractive". The very last thing this game needs is yet *another* cutesy, giggly, preening anime weeaboo race. Enough. I realize this is a Japanese-made MMO and I'm a huge fan of the FF series but true racial variety was sorely needed. It's about time we have a race that's actually bestial in appearance. Are they a little too steroidal looking? Perhaps, but I'm hopeful that one of the 2 clans of Hrothgar are more lithe and lean while still big enough to set themselves apart from the abundance of kitties, bunnies and emo edge lord non-dragon dragon people. Bring on the lion men, SE! And maybe at a later date lion women too because female Hrothgar/Ronso would look so amazing.

Hrothgar are fine. It's for the people who always wanted something more beastly like.
What is not fine is gender locking both races because of Yoshida's own personal liking.

i do hope people don't hate hrothgar just because they are considered male viera replacement because they are not
i think Hrothgar are real cool and the game was in desperate need of a playable beastly race and as much of a small percentage who play beastly or wanted a beastly race glad they got something they wanted (i hope)

You mean that they're not attractive to you, right?
...maybe its actually better for you that we wont get male Viera - seeing how you seem to have a very specific image/look in mind you'd like or even expect them to have. There is no evidence that male Viera would have looked anything like the females - its quite possible that the males are actually pretty buff were-bunny-types or tiny little lalafells with bunnyears OR actual bunnies, hoping the forest and nibbling on any foe they come across.
There is absolutly no need for male Viera to look slender or more feminine.

And actually, the Ronso from FFX were mostly those buff, beastlike creatures aswell - with the exception of children and older Ronso (both wouldnt be playable)

Sorry you didnt get the male bodytype you wanted for this expansion (have a pick from Elezen, Mi'qote, Midlander - and at least in parts - Au Ra), but I doubt they're going to design a race with two extremly different body-types. Keep in mind that gear has to be modeled for all of those bodies - more types = more work (both right now and in the future).
People have been asking for more beastly and buff races and just because it isnt attractive to you, doesnt mean its not attractive in general.

The idea of a Beast"y" Race is very cool, i always missed something very raw and strong like for example Orcs in other Games but the Hrothgar just look like reskinned Rogadyn models.

It is a bestial race it isn't even suppose to be attractive jeessh why everything in game has to be attractive... duh
