Saw a PLD in Saint Mocianne not using tank stance at all. Both SMNs in party repeatedly ripped aggro off him, despite using cooldowns.
When asked to use tank stance, the guy answered "not needed". Lol. When asked again said that the only deaths were due to aoe dodging (they were not). Also having to run away because of agro really messes with aoe dodging, y'know.

In all of my dps runs it seems for some reason I get the most comms as a samurai....not as an RDM or SMN when I res people or other DPS with party utilities.......just for the samurai.

Like today for example I get 4 comms on syrcus tower for.....some reason.I didn't do something special beside dpsing like usual and having some fun in alliance chat

Maybe it's a coincidence and I found people nice enough to give comms but it's weird to have this shower of praise when Im playing as the selfish DPS rather than the utilitarian ones.

Is it the amount of damage I'm doing?

These people probably parse. I can find no other explanation for 4 alliance raid comms.
I get the most comms on blm, likely for the same reason.

When I first started, I got most of my comms from playing DRG. I got more comms from DRG, than at any point as a healer or tank. I find that DPS, as long as you're smart and dodging stuff, and not being obstinate you get a lot more comms than a tank/healer.

I was doing a Vault run leveling my dragoon and I was consistently ripping off hate from the Warrior tank. I brought it up and he told me to stop popping my cooldowns so he can grab aggro. My mind just kinda blanked from that statement.

Also, that a Warrior tank was having aggro issues in a level synced dungeon.

Wish I can get DPS that can try to rip aggro during trash pulls, instead I have to switch to Deliverance if it's taking too long and the healer doesn't mind. Sometimes I have to during the rare fights where a DPS check means a wipe (or takes out 3/4 of the party)

Had this "Keeper of the Lake" where the Warrior crashed on on load.... no big deal, she came back.

So the group went on without her, and was doing okay. Warrior got back, apologized and immediately pulled big and everybody died.

That sucked, but to her credit, that little Warrior started pulling smaller. But aggro was all over the place. But.... she wasn't in Tanking stance. Didn't seem to notice until the first boss.

What a n00b!

I had something similar when I first started tanking. GLD was my first tank, got to level 32 the night before, and didn't even think about it when I logged in after work the next day. Queued up for Leveling Roulette instantly when I logged in...forgetting my DRG was already 60(didn't start tanking until after the 3.0 story quests were done...) so I could end up in almost anything. Got into Brayflox. As it loads in...I realise I'm just a lowly GLD who hasn't unlocked PLD. Queue the customary "Hello"'s, and I mention how I haven't done my PLD job unlock, and that if they wanted I could leave so they could get a new tank, that would be better equipped to handle it. The others said not to worry, and if things go really bad, then they would accept my leaving. Well, from what I remember since this was almost 2 years ago, it went fairly smooth. Finished it, and went to do my PLD quest right away when I got out.

Definitely the thing I remember most of my starting to tank days.

Gosh I've done that before as DRK. Turned off grit at a boss to push some more dps and forgot to put it back on. Healer and I were scratching our heads as to why my HP was dropping so fast on trash pulls when one of the DPS mentioned I'd forgot to put grit back on after the boss

Yes that's the level 60 ilvl 200 gear.



Healer managed to keep them alive for most of the run; never commed someone quicker.

If I was in that run I would have commended you for having some fun in alliance chat. Dailies can be a bit tedious sometimes, having some fun with your fellow party members helps it go quicker. We play to have fun after all. Perhaps that is why.
