A request to those who are unhappy with gender lock

I'm just wondering how many people are actually quitting, and how many are just blowing smoke.

Blowing smoke is actually good enough, as I was trying to convey in my opening post. They are not even losing money right now if people cancel their subscription. They're just seeing that, due to their announcement, their future revenue will potentially be lower. As a consequence, they will review whether it would be financially advantageous to change their stance on the subject. This change of stance ideally has to happen before the majority of subscriptions actually expire so that they can convince these players to resub.

Why would SE management care about expectations and concerns for only one of their games, especially when it's old and would have then failed twice?

How so if director mentioned before this year even if they wanted to end the game the CEO wouldn't let them because it gives them a good profit?

The thing am not getting here is you want to see something changed but if you do not support financially and like other player mentioned before in this thread will result in firing more devs how will they meet in time the changes you ask for as a community.

It looks like hired blizzard propaganda to me this whole boycott request.

If you are unhappy with the decision, then feel free to leave. Not all decisions will resonate with everyone and it is impossible to satisfy all the players.

Decisions have to be made in a way to try and please the most people and if you think that is easy, try and get a management job in a big company and try to keep all your departments satisfied, much less your customers.

I believe most players don't give a rats arse to gender lock or not and will continue to play, have fun even if they don't like a feature or two and continue to make this MMO a profitable MMO.

I could go dig in the forums for all the "vote with your wallets" type of threads over the years and with the power of hindsight see how well those went today, in 2019.

Given the unrealistic expectation the affect people echo chamber themselves to, even if, there were male Viera, they would fail to meet someone expectation that would now be revolting. To be honest, If male Viera would be a 1m tall with a pot belly, would that echo chamber be happy?

Stop acting like divas and decide: either you like that game and play even with its flaw, or you don't and leave. Don't try to drag others into your pet grievances.

I'm disappointed in them genderlocking races. I think it was a bad move and they should have just made male viera. But I don't feel strongly enough about it to quit. Just as I feel they should have added a new healer but don't feel strongly enough about it to quit. There is a middle ground between 'that's it I'm out' and 'I am perfectly satisfied with all of these decisions.'

For me it's more the principle of the thing. They did this in 1.0, but people wanted to play female roes and male miqo'te so they filled in the gaps. Now they're repeating the same exact thing, similarly trying to use lore as an excuse when the WRITE the lore and have already taken MANY MANY liberties with Ivalice anyway. I wouldn't personally be playing a male viera, nor am I interested in hrothgar in general. But I know there will be people who wanted to make male viera, assuming that like every other race int he game they would get both genders, who are now shut out from it. And that sucks for them.

The devs will most likely not change their mind because of a temporary outrage on the forums. However, if their revenue forecast suddenly takes a drop after announcing an expansion, that's a different story.

So please consider canceling your subscription renewal if you're opposed to gender locked races.

You will still be able to play the game with the remaining days of your active subscription. You can still resubscribe at any time. It's not about dramatically quitting the game forever, it's about communicating with the devs in a way they can't ignore. And I can assure you that the risk of losing a large number of resubs will do the trick.

If this is important to you, then tell your friends, reply to this thread to keep it visible, and cancel your Shadowbringers pre-order. ; )

Gender locking in the year 2019 and after promising that that wouldn't occur again? Sour taste in my mouth that makes me question who SE is making this game for. My pre-order is on hold for now.

What would happen if a big number of players would unsub and SE doesn't make profit with ff14 because of the Vieragate? SE would NOT spend extra resources to implement male Viera. They would simply shut down the servers, shrug and move to another game.
