Gosh I hate being right... When Viera were still rumored I was thinking this:
"But Viera are generally Female only, in terms of Lore. (Yes there are males, but they've never been shown in any of the franchise).. So if it does come out it will be a female only race. But then to make it fair, they'd have to make a male only race too.. Hmmm.. Ronso would be a cool pick for that, I guess. Kimahri in FFXIV?, I'm down!"
Me and my friend laughed so hard when they revealed it XD I'm not as salty as most people though, like I honestly don't care that they're genderlocked. I'd rather have them stay true to their lore, especially with Viera in this case.
And yes, Ronso have females that are shown within the franchise, but they had to make it fair. And since Viera are genderlocked, they decided to genderlock the Hrothgar as well. That's all. It's just a game.. calm down, people :3

Miqo were also "Generally famele only" and Roe with Males.Gosh I hate being right... When Viera were still rumored I was thinking this:

Its almost as if this is their game and their lore.
just play femroe and wear a lion mask, sorted

Yeah I suppose, but Male Miqo actually works, imo. Fem roes however... Not a fan (No offense intended to anyone who plays one, btw. I just don't like the look of bulky females)... And then male bunnies somehow make me uncomfortable as well, so I'm with SE on that 1. And that's not with any sexist intensions or whatever. It's just.. idk... I just imagine it'd be really hard to not make male Viera uncomfortably awkward looking. But that's just me :P
Edit: That said though, they might come up with a way to implement female Hrothgar and Male Viera later on during the explansion. Who knows?

I still feel like people could treat these discussions like suggestions to the Team instead of vitriol and hostility. However i am beginning to realize where the core of the upset is coming from and where this confusion all started.
Journey to all fish: 1383/1729 (348 remaining) [79%]
I always wanted to play a beastly female race and the female ronos felt like they could have been that..and yet only the males can play the beast race while the females only get another sexy human like race..
Its really sad.

Hrotgar probably gonna be the least played race ever anyway. How about they don't blow so many ressources in the trashbin for a change.

So they CAN create a nice looking counterpart to a previously locked, masculine race. Got it~!
Sorry friend, but you might want to do some soul searching to see where these biases come from, because there's no real logical explanation to be literally uncomfortable with the male viera design. There is nothing awkward about the originial male viera art. (Except maybe the stiff posing?) And you don't really have to be a fan of an aesthetic for someone else to feel represented by it. I just really see no reason to be uncomfortable towards that design that doesn't point to a discomfort towards men not adhering to strict gender expression expectations.Yeah I suppose, but Male Miqo actually works, imo. We thought the viera would be a good opportunity for them to reverse the injustice they did with the Au Ra, instead they doubled down.
Yet they still made blue mage, and are convinced that everyone thinks eureka is fun...
I wouldn't lose a wink of sleep if they discontinued those two fast-abandoned snoozefests for them to actually finish the races they started.

they didnt even make em the right size...they just reskined the roe and gave is a cheap halloween mask. viera looks like they ripped her from a different game engine. she looks way better than anything currently in the game regarding textures and movement. Thought it was a cinematic trailer at first.Such a unique (easily the most unique that FFXIV has) race. But male only. Why? Is it because women have to follow pretty standards? Is it because they can't be a little bulkier? My sub is cancelled and will be staying such till we get female Hrothgar. Its completly inexcusable.
Female Ronso are even a thing!
