I can't take seriously any arguments about respecting the lore in the same expansion that we're getting sexy Nier robots as one of the main attractions in the form of a 24-man raid series. It's completely possible to enjoy the lore and be enthralled/immersed by it while also recognizing that all lore decisions are arbitrary beyond whether or not the devs felt like doing it and, to a lesser degree, because people asked for it. Yoshi has admitted that one of the main reasons we're getting Viera at all is because we've asked for them for years. You may not like the way people ask for things, but outside of raw economic data (subbing and unsubbing) that doesn't really speak to the success or failure of any one feature in the game, this is how the Player-DevTeam relationship works.

I can respect that last bit, especially the way you worded it. Thank you. I wish people could treat them with a little more respect and not like they just stole their ice cream from them. It's despicable, after everything the dev team has done for the playerbase and everything else they've been through since the beginning.

It was stated how there are differences in each universe for each race. I didn't see any lore about female Hrothgar in Eorzea. Nobody did.

Just like how there is no lore about male Viera in Eorz- oh wait there is.

And how they're much much rarer than male Miqote who are also not play- oh wait they're just as rare and male miqote are playable.

The only reason I would expect them not to add male viera or female ronso is because of the gimick of the male/female only races and the lore is used as an excuse.

Because using the lore to justify not putting the development power into making the races is just laziness on SE's part.

Now I don't care for genderlocked races. I'm sure nobody does. But unlike genderlocked classes, I can accept genlocked races more provided the reasons both in game and out to justify it. In this case, the reason in game would have been sound. However developing Ronso disproves that they couldn't simply make male viera, they just didn't want. The two reasons conflict on a logical sense (to me) and thus this forum is now on fire.

I definitely prefer they stick to their guns on this; not because I want to them to uphold the sanctity of the lore so much as I just find female-only/female-predominantly races to be supremely cool. However, I'd rather have female and male Viera than no Viera at all.
