IMO 1.20 removed MRD, PGL and THM, split CNJ into 2 classes and added the gimp version of their MNK and WAR.Just adding in my two cents.
I am worried as to what they're doing to MRD right now, regarding the sudden lack of AoE, well, anything really.
Steadfast, Warmonger, and Storms Path will be missed and I understand the team is working hard on so many things, but why take away the skills that basically made the class what it is, a multi target DD. (Whirlwind doesn't match up, imo).
During mog, I also realized how I missed Defender 2. ):
THM is a beast now.
I agree it's kinda silly to have the AoE combo set-up the way it is, but you can get around this by taking off target lock, running through the mob and popping Path of the Storm. Requires some practice but it's fairly easy once you get it down. As far as MRD's direction... well, WAR Job will really dictate that with the extra skills. I'd really hope they do create a melee AoE class with this job, it was what made MRD fun IMO.Also not understanding the concept of being able to grab hate / do AoE combos.
If you have hate, the mob will be looking at you. How does one manage to get behind and sucessfully pull the Path of Storms / Whirlwind combo? 'Hey, can you just pretend that I'm still over there while I run behind you and hit you?'
THM might be a beast...but it's not THM anymore...it's just a "dark CNJ" version.THM is a beast now.

And IMO WAR will be tank, not AoEr...just like MRD is now. It will get an extra WS to combo with skull sunder that consumes rampage (just like godsbane consumes berserk...it will be AoE, but being 3rd WS at combo i would expect 3000 TP and 60-90 sec recast), punishing barbs, an action that adds an extra hit to WSs, a reverse sneak attack where you claim yours the enmity of the target's next attack and the HP + attack bonus + stun + remove sleep action (probably named "Warcry").
3k TP doesn't matter as the last WS doesn't consume TP, and the recast can be overcome with buff rotations & keen flurry very easily. And IMO WAR will be tank, not AoEr...just like MRD is now. As for the new skills, they are:
Steel Cyclone - Delivers a melee attack to enemies in range. Consumes Rampage effect when active to increase damage. Combo Action: Skull Sunder Combo Bonus: Critical hit.
Vengeance - Redirects a portion of damage taken from next attack back to its source.
Bloodlust - Grants an additional attack to your next weaponskill.
Collusion - Redirects enmity generated by target party member's next attack to you.
Warmonger - Increases the maximum HP and attack power of all party members within range, and removes any Sleep effects. Stuns all enemies within range.
MRD/WAR has always been designed as a tank, it doesn't mean they can't be AoE too. They will have two AoE weaponskills at their disposal that can be used with a combo to negate the TP drain, Keen Flurry can lessen cooldowns, along with a conal WS to be used after Parries (and likely in-between AoE cooldowns). So yea... they can still AoE. The design is much more geared towards being a trash tank than a single-target tank.
