Male Miqo'te have a lower birthrate than male Viera; the moon kitties just as elusive as they're supposed to be kept at home hidden away from danger. Female Roe's weren't supposed to be playable - for some idiotic reason, no lore was holding them back. Female Highlanders were supposed to be kept at home to look after the children. Two of these have lore for why they were supposedly 'gender locked' in 1.0 - the other was locked just because. Sounds familiar?

The FFXIV dev team has themselves expressed why gender-locking races is a bad idea, when they remade the game for 2.0 and added male Miqo'te. The lore reason for the absence of male Viera is exactly the same as it was for the absence of male Miqo'te. Also, I loved Ronso, and there were female Ronso, so there's no reason to gender-lock them. SE has broken their own lore and violated past design paradigms that were an integral part of their relationship with the playerbase. Honestly, there's a degree of violated trust here.

That and the whole idea that girls are cute sexy bunnies and boys are giant strong lions is just so last century. It's insulting. The year is 2019 and SE needs to clue in. You can't get away with designing races for twelve-year-old boys who like bunny girls and male power fantasies.

So sorry no you're wrong. SE aren't staying true to lore. They're cherry-picking when to do so.
We don't have the explanation yet, maybe in the lore of FFXIV (not FFX), ronsos are male only. Like male viera never come out of the forest in FINAL FANTASY 14 lore (not FFXII). Don't get confused, they are different games.

They are rare, but they travel around the country as, you know... Adventurers. Yeah. And you know something else ? The proportion of male/female mi'qote on the servers is also close the lore (lot of female compared to male). In fact, players respected the lore.

I have no stake in this but I'm guessing it's because gender-locking races has no tangible benefits.
One of the now gender-locked races doesn't even have any "lore" to justify the lock since Ronso have been male and female originally.
As for male bunnies, I'll just point to the male (Moon)cats.

They've told you exactly why. They established 14s Viera lore with the release of 4.5. It just so happens to be similar to previous Viera lore in the series. Assuming that Hrothgar lore has to match the Ronso lore from 10 is foolish, especially when they haven't even established them in the 14 universe yet.

SE are not consistent with whether they follow their own lore or not...so they really can't use it as an infallible reason for the gender locking.

Male miqos are supposed to be rare but they're playable since 2.0. Ronso/hrothgar were not gender locked at all in FFX but they are in FFXIV. And viera have retained their lore reasons for being genderlocked. There is no pattern of following lore. It's random.

So sorry no I don't buy lore as a reason because it's clear they choose to follow it only sometimes.

You're basically saying that the lore from one FF title has to match the lore in another FF title. News flash, every numbered title is completely unconnected in terms of lore.

No I'm not. I never said this. I'm saying lore cannot be used as an excuse for it because SE follow and break their lore randomly.

I want male viera in the game and that would mean changing the lore. I don't support gender locking at all.
