Why are people upset about the gender lock ?

It's written and explained very clearly in game why male viera will never be seen outside their forest, so why does people are mad about it ? Why does people even think one second about male viera being a thing ?

When I read "SE is losing itself with this decision" I just want to say : SE took a great decision and stayed true to it's OWN lore, you just mad.

But they didn't stay true to their lore. Hrothgar are ronso. Ronso are from FFX. There are female and male ronso everywhere out in the open in that game. There is zero gender-based segregation for the ronso in FFX. But for some reason there is in FFXIV.

So sorry no you're wrong. SE aren't staying true to lore. They're cherry-picking when to do so.

EDIT: and let me remind some of you of how in lore male miqos are rare but they're playable anyway since 2.0.

The lore in 1.0 explained the previous genderlocks back then too. Players (and SE) all agreed it was dumb and introduced the missing 3 for 2.0's launch.

We have clouds bike. Soon to have Noctis' car and Yokai Watch yokais.
The "lore" isn't a good enough reason to genderlock a race when the lore is broken by every event and collaboration this game has. And for that matter Miqo'te are also a female mostly race just like the viera but I see a hell of a lot of male Miqo'te all over the place

Literally, the same lore applies to male Mi'qote, and yet they are playable. The dev team for 2.0 themeselves said that 1.0 decision to gender-lock races was dumb and added male mi'qote, female roe and highlanders.

Besides, lore-wise, only one WoL/WoD exists. Nothing says that they can't be from a rarely seen tribe.

This is FFXIV, not FFX, they can do whatever they want with Hrothgar and it would be considered canon. Just because they happened to choose to stick to the source Viera lore doesn't mean they had to with Hrothgar. They could come out and say Hrothgar females don't exist, and that the males grow from trees, and there's nothing you could say that would change that fact.

A reference/homage is just that. We don't need carbon copies of everything referenced from other titles in the series.

Exactly. What are the "lore" reasons behind ignoring female ronso? Pathetic SE. Why are you regressing? I loved the fact that FFXIV originally made up for the mistakes of FFXI and FFXIV 1.0 gender locks.
