A serious case of house scam in [Zodiark].

Today, one of my friend got scam for buy house.

Old story.

They are selling the best plot in this game, we both know which one it is.

He deposit the 70m gil to the company chest, then get kicked. Then he desperately ask them to not do this and promise to add another 100m.

Then my friend added another 50m, then, get kicked again.

Really old story.

What different is that, this kind scam has been continually happened in same FC for more than one year.

From the chest gil transaction history, he saw that. Every month, every day, there is a ppl got scam.

Then the new lv1 character will join the FC take the money then leave.

New green character will join the FC , become the FC leader and continue to scam. From the history, that more than 2 billion gil has been involved.

So many ppl’s hardworking.


Just because they got the best house in this game. The house that everyone dreams for.


We know its grey zone, what can we do? If the only thing left is this game for him is just the house?




When can we got an official market board for house? Market is the best hand to deal with the economic? Isn’t that right?

While this kind of scam is deplorable, if you fall for it, you only have yourself to blame. When you're asked to deposit money into an FC chest, with naught but a promise from the other person that the agreement will be fulfilled, that should be a red flag right there. If you still deposit it, yup, you only got yourself to blame.

Buy and selling plots on the market board would be a good idea, but not for the reason you describe. People really just need to use their brains more.

I'm sorry, but if they stole 70m, why would your friend not only offer more but repeat the exact same mistake? Report the scammer immediately, especially if anything was said in game in regards to the deal.

The point is there is no such function in this game but ppl do need this function.

And I am talking about an organized crime in this game is happening for one year, and it should be ended now.

My friend may lost his mind at that time. Not everyone can keep their intellent when they saw what they are dreaming for years.

There are ppl getting scammed each month, each day. None of them are foolish. Especially they have earned so much Gil in this game.


They just have no way but only trust.

I think it's actually against ToS to buy and sell houses from players in game (that's what I have heard at least).

EDIT:
I found a thread with a screencapped GM response that reselling houses IS against ToS.
"To clarify, the resale of estates and land via Party Finder or any other means is a Prohibited Activity as it falls into the category of Inappropriate Behavior."

So guys, stop buying and selling houses, you could get scammed and it's against ToS.
Just wait around and check each individual ward like the rest of us to get houses. It's how I got mine :P

Another Edit: Lots of conflicting GM responses, I wouldn't do it just to stay on the safe side.

It's not, but in this case the person was buying the FC that happened to have a house attached. If you detail the arrangement in GAME chat, the GM's will absolutely get involved with the person scamming. If you make arrangements through discord or reddit (or however people do this now), and say nothing in game chat, then yes, there is nothing the GM's can do to help.

I would still report the user. If they have a repeat offense for this sort of thing the GMs may decide to take action anyway.

This brings up an interesting thought, in-game realtor NPC! You put your house up for sale with the realtor, then the realtor acts as a go between. You can also see the realtor about empty lots too and not have to check every ward in every city. If Ishgard housing is added, that is nearly 100 wards to look through manually. Right now it is at 72.

I agree though, OP's friend really should report the person.
