im pretty sure thats his point he just wants something different and beastly that's all
it could be for all we know they specifically mentioned they had to do something different with viera and there helmets could lead to Hrothgar actually being different and beastly
Funny, as I was reading your post and got to 'conceited' I immediately thought of Elezen. But I get your point as I think both races would be conceited in different ways. How to put it... Elezen have an air of nobility to them, stuck-up-ness that comes from their history and their political games. Viera would have none of that, or at least, much, much less. Theirs is a different kind of Xenophobia and is joined by the fact they can likely snap the neck of whomever it is they're talking to with a flick of their wrist. It's... less hollow? More dangerous, compared to Elezen, is how I see it anyway.
Interesting the way did imagine the male viera character build is totally different from the picture you mentioned would imagine them being strong, large like larger than Roegadyn, average stature, long and big beard and huge mustache like the mustache wants to run away from the face, aging wrinkles in the eyes in the cheeks and forehead, white old hair, considerably huge beer belly and lots of fur (not like man-bear-pig) small fur all over their body (but not like chewbacca) big fur on the back, chest, arms and belly, more or less middle age men appearance.

I just can't take that pose in the artwork seriously no matter which gender is using it. It doesn't look like it belongs on a fierce defender of the forest. It looks like it belongs to someone who is about to let the forest get invaded because they're much too concerned with rolling around in the underbrush.
I'm inclined to brand it 'The Quicksand Pose'. It's exactly the pose I envision when I think of what lurks in Ul'dah on Balmung and Mateus.
Yea..... Maybe the lore tells so, but elezen just look and behave really weird to me. i think it's just their awkward design (also giraffe neck), i really like elfish races, because of their elegance and their "conceited" personality, but elezen don't give me that typical elfish vibe, because of the design choice :S it's just my personal opinion tho, other people might see them totally different. i really like their lore thoFunny, as I was reading your post and got to 'conceited' I immediately thought of Elezen. Yea but it's more about the "body type" we're talking about. I don't think a viera ingame would ACTUALLY have such a pose tbh. I hope the different face options would allow people to create their vieras after their tastes. (younger/cuter, older, happy and or grumpy face options)I just can't take that pose in the artwork seriously no matter which gender is using it. In the end (if male vieras really become a thing) every created viera is something special, because they all will have a different background story.
It's kind of difficult for me to explain myself(my thoughts) in english, im sorry for misunderstandings.
My post was made because there had been users that kinda implied that if someone wanted the Viera a certain way that they dont truly want Viera and some said how the art showed something else thus it couldnt be different to that. The same with them having to be huge and muscled just because they are protectors. (So you could say my post itself was laso a rebutal against some points)Lol I dunno why people are making "let people post what they want" posts. Like of course. It's a public forum. Post whatever you want and stop being bothered by what other people post. If you think you're being attacked there's a block button, if you disagree, reply with a rebuttal.
Edit: And wow that last male Viera picture is hot. The pose might be a bit too much but who is to say that someone cant be a fierce protector of the forest and still have that side to them in their free time?I mean we humans have more than one trait too.

Letter from the Producer LIVE Part IX Q&A Summary (10/30/2013)
Q: Will there be any maintenance fees or other costs for housing, besides the cost of the land and house?
A: In older MMOs, such as Ultima Online, there was a house maintenance fee you had to pay weekly, but in FFXIV: ARR we decided against this system. Similarly, these older MMOs also had a system where your house would break down if you didn’t log in after a while in order to have you continue your subscription, but this is a thing of the past and we won't have any system like that.
If the reports of another actual cat race are to be believed, i can't help but be reminded of the Woren of the Breath of Fire series by Capcom.
While obviously more tiger themed than Lion, i must stress a unique aspect of a few Woren is that rarely some have the ability to go into a larger more feral form of wear Tiger.
Interestingly enough, i ca see the Pantera have many call backs to the Woren.
Including the ability to change forms to more feral bearings.
Even with this, i can truly never see FFXIV having beastmen races. Humans with add pieces maybe used as a derogatory term for some, however i see it as consistency among the player races.
I feel nearly the whole of the Mogstation is undeniable proof of this being the design philosophy of the dev team.
I know i don't want to see Argonian Maid levels of Beastly player characters in FFXIV...
gender locked or no.
I would be 100% okay with a pantera looking race. They don't seem THAT far off of the humanesque features the other races have. Definitely wouldn't get any shapeshifting though lol.
But if this new race is all male... does that mean they... you know... :v

I'd love it if people were actually "discussing". That's pretty much why I completly left BLU threads and now absolutly don't care about what the official forums think. I'm just coming to read daily dose of useless drama and to remind everyone that these debates are worthless both to the community, and to Square Enix.
