Feature Request to aid crafters

Is it possible to be able to use materials in Retainers automatically as if they were in our bags. Having to do a search to see if we have the mats anywhere, run to our Retainer, or sit by by the bell and summon them every couple minutes is quite craft detering.

this has been requested time and time again. it's currently not possible to do this because each retainer's inventory is instanced. it's only available to you when you summon it from the bell. otherwise it's as if you don't possess it at all. the entire way the inventory in this game works would have to be redone for this request to be possible.

Im honestly fine with the inventory infrastructure being remade. It was practically behind the times when it was implemented. Time for an update.

Given how integral the inventory code likely is to the game, remaking the system would very probably requiring shutting the game down again for an extended period in order to untangle everything that's currently tied to the inventory system to implement something new. It'd practically have to turn into remaking the entire game.

At least, that's my impression. I have a hard time thinking of how devs could isolate something like inventory, connected as it is to so much else.

pretty much. might as well make a whole new online game from scratch than remake the inventory system just for XIV quality of life.
