yeah that's how I see it too - anything from strained silence to maybe people leaving the hall. Not that we'll get to see it, I doubt the cameras'll pan in the middle of FanFest. We'll hear about that if it happens from game journalists and fan testimonies

I also wonder how the JP audience will react if they announce the gender-locked Hrothgar as a "substitute" to male Viera.
It seems that the beastly race is more favored by the western players. Especially if it's the rough, "ugly", beast type and not the "cute" beast.

I reckon SE will hope to bring up the hype back with Hrothgar after it goes down with the gender-locked Viera announcement, but it's the JP audience.... so, not sure...

Lol not even going to argue something so silly. We will see how much outrage there is in less than a week. It'll be pretty obvious on stream.

Not only it won't happen on stream, but even if there was an outrage (woo, reddit will EXPLODE... for like two days, and the same people on official forums will create a new thread every two days about it for the next 10 years, without achieving anything) it wouldn't change a thing.

If SE has already taken the decision that this would be the last addition to the game simply because of how much ressources they have to pour into that, it'd probably take as much people currently playing a catgirl in order to complain about wanting to play a bunnyboy. And everyone know this will never happen. Bunnyboy people are a tiny niche, and the people moralizing the issue simply because they don't like genderlocks don't count (you actually have to want to play as that race and gender to be relevant).

Meanwhile, the vast majority won't even care, as long as the alternative (Hrothgar?) looks cool and some people enjoy it. And even if it doesn't look good, the most you'll get is a "meh", as you said in your next post on the matter.

So, yeah. If outrage there is, will come from the forums (like always), and will achieve nothing anyway (like almost always).

Lol well I'm actually hopeful for them to add male Viera at some point simply because there's precedent of them getting over whatever qualms they have with it. (bunny suit) I just don't think it'll be something that will make fanfest seem any less hype on stream.

Iono man, we got boy-Miqo, and female Roes and Highlanders. Out of all the things the devs did people rallied agains, genderlocks is maybe the one thing we have precedence of them backing down on.

Yoshi said "probably" about Viera being the last, didn't he? Not only is that a loophole to be exploited, SE themselves will already exploit it if they introduce Hrothgar. Just like how they pulled BLU and went "remember when we said about NIN it was hard to release a job mid-expansion? Well we never said we'd never do it again, did we?"
Everything they said about Viera and the hypothetical gender locks is built in such a way that they can go back on it if they so wish.

They don't count because they counter your argument, is what it sounds like. There are people who have said they'd stop playing if gender locks are introduced even if they won't play bunny boys, that's an audience SE might care about too.

See i can understand your point but saying that people who don't like gender locking shouldn't count when they go and gender lock is kinda silly to say, they do count because they are explicitly stating they don't want the very thing that might happen just like how people have every right to complain and count to complaints about a Eureka style content in 5.0 when they only got to elv 2 in Eureka the difference between the two is players can try Eureka to find out if like or dislike it, male Viera may not even get that chance same with female Hrothgar

Also if “this is probably the last race” was pointing out a technicality (“we said probably, not definitely~”) we could potentially get something in the line of “well, we said no more new races... but these aren't new races~” for the 2 missing down the line.
