I know Nobuo were on this, and we feel it.

Nobuo Uematsu only composed Dragonsong from Heavensward. Except for a few tracks from 1.0 that made their return during HW, the music was composed by Masayoshi Soken. The same guy that did A Realm Reborn, Stormblood, and will be doing Shadowbringer's music.

It's called ambiance. Namai and the surrounding area in Yanxia is supposed to have a pastoral feel to it - a more quiet, countryside type area. The track you linked, while fun to listen to, would not at all create that kind of ambiance.

OK, so this is more of an opinion and not really an analysis. I thought for sure we were going to be discussing instrument choices or SB's use of motif to fill out the soundtrack. Also, ugh...your opinion is definitely an opinion I don't agree with.

I'll second that I'm also musically inclined and have been involved in the art for almost two decades and to be frank, like others have said, this is just one big opinion. Heavensward is my favourite expansion and I love love love the music in it too, but saying Stormblood's music is trash is just ludicrous at best.

As for me the only SB track I don't like has to be Saint Mocianne's Arbortum Hard. Will have to see if Soken has anything special for the cut scenes we have awaiting us in the bits of story we have left. Though I doubt we will.

Saying all of sb's music is trash is a broad statement and unfair. I have been critical of sb's music in the past, but even I can see that there has been some really great pieces. The only thing I will complain about and which I hope I won't see in shadowbringers is the length of the songs in zones. Sb compared to hw and arr are short in length and sometimes their is very little to the song. An example to compare is dravania forelands vs azim steppe. One organically builds on itself and while I initially enjoyed the Azim Steppe song it grew tiring of hearing the same song over and over with long pauses between them.

But I believe the dungeon songs are great. Omega and the primal songs are all awesome.

Lol Are you kinding me? The SB battle theme is the most hype music in the game, I still catch myself chair dancing to it.

I loved Coerthas, but I can't agree that I liked Sea of Clouds better. Painted Foothills is the only HW song that I still keep on my orchestrion, it's so hard to pick what I want playing cause every patch there is something new and great.

I didn't care for Kugane's music, but a lot of the other JPN inspired stuff was good. The Jpop was on point. Tsukuyomi's theme is soooo good.

Even Seiryu and Susano's themes without any words are SPLENDID. I try to run Seiryu every day just to hear the song.

And I think a lot of the charm is that they flow so good with their encounters.

Soken has gone above and beyond with all the music in SB.

My only complaint is I would have liked for Eureka to not have the same theme for every zone. We lost a dungeon for it, not need to constantly reuse music.

Honorable mentions for amazing songs that I didn't already fawn about are Most Unworty, A Land Long Dry and Liberty or Death. ALL the new music for final Omega!!!

I legit run those sometimes just to hear the music as it feels it's mean to be experienced. Sometimes it's jarring when the music changes to the battle music cause the themes are so type. (Cept the final battle theme, that's always hype!!!)

Happens to be one of my many many favourites. A good soundtrack does not have to be a complex mix of instruments you know? But nevermind that, to each their own hahahaha!
