    They should just separate Blue mage from other jobs and I mean this categorically, like in the jobs list menu it should have it's own section title'd "Disciple of x" or something like that, it should not be under disciple of war and limited jobs should just get their own "disciple" tag and have their limited content expanded on.

    If Yoshida and the team want to continue with this they just need to completely cut limited jobs from Disciple of war jobs. It honestly shouldn't even be called a ranged magic DPS.

    I agree with this. I have started calling them Disciples of Collection offhand, just because it makes so much more sense to me. That way we can have special weapons and gear, Disciple of collection roulettes, and other content designed specifically for the discipline (rather than each limited job separately). It also gets rid of the awful name "limited job" which should never have been finalised, especially since every other piece of content gets a stupid lore specific name whether it needs it or not.

    Blue Mage doesn't actually play all that different to the other casters anyway, it's actually kinda boring tbh as it doesn't even have a quirky little mini-game gauge to manage like the other jobs.

    That does sound pretty good. Certainly much better than limited job.

    it plays different because its more about using the right skills at the right time, rather than optimal routes,


    if a monster can be stunned, stun> knife becomes a solid dps.
    if the monster does tons of dmg, you may incorporate bad breath.
    monster uses huge dmg spike, diamondback. need specific timed burns? go full damage combo with magic flute, finish with diamondback to protect yourself during downtime. adds vulnerable to missle? spam missile, protected? use a different combo.


    so all the interesting facets of blue is about knowing the enemy and how best to deal with it. The actual mechanics are as you say, pretty basic. Then there is the factor, that what you have unlocked opens different strats and whatnot.

    I think that's just you (and most people with that position) refusing to be creative at some point.

    As other people said, SMN is not really what you could expect from a Summoner yet it has a solid rotation and its own identity compared to BLM and RDM.
    The system of combo you mention could actually be implemented in a full rotation, where BLU would apply debuffs that only increase potencies of its own finishers, something like Aquabreath then Shock Strike in magic melee, Ram Voice then Dragon Voice, a round of DoTs, each successful "combo" could implement a gauge, which once filled could allow BLU to cast a serie of powerfull spells, reset some oGCD. Heck, you could build bonuses similar to MAsked Carnival if in your rotation you use every elemental magic, etc. (these are just my basic suggestions)
    In short terms : there are ways to make it a full caster with a unique rotation. And that's not even mentioning how it could work in a team with specific buffs and debuffs.
