The "role flexibility" is basically non-existent because what it's supposed to be able to do can be done better by other roles on account of not being gimped by the role it's in or even just by regular mechanics found in instances.I would like it to be matched with current jobs in regards to level cap and maybe have a proper weapon. However because of role flexibility and the level of customization of skills coupled with being able to technically progress job level while missing nearly all of your spells I would not want it queueable through duty finder outside of premade parties. Add it to squadron missions, diadem, eureka, and the ability to do solo MSQ duties with it sure. The only possible compromise I would allow personally for DF usage would be that players are required to clear all cap tier stages of the masked carnival just to be able to queue into DF at all without a full premade party and that it would only allow access to duties up to that cap tier or expansion. Current masked carnival for ARR content, a lvl 60 set for HW content, a lv 70 set for SB content, and a lv 80 set for Shadowbringers content.
If they are set on not giving raw stats on BLU weapons then atleast make it more than a glamour and provide different spell type/element bonuses to them so there is some sort of tactical consideration to that particular slot.
Currently the only role it falters at is healer. Reasons being lack of party buffs, no esuna, no raise, and its only heal spell is based on their current HP making it inconsistent. It could be ridiculously OP on 1 cast and almost negligible the next if the caster takes a heavy hit. Well there is 1 other option but that kills the caster.
Utilizing skills currently available its possible to make BLU nearly as competent as a lv 50 tank in ilvl 130 gear.
However it feels like a lot of you assume OP means BLU is supposed to do as much damage at lv 50 in ilvl 130 gear as your lv 70 dps does in ilvl 400 gear allowing it to solo clear any content while sipping a cup of tea.
Other things with BLU as it is currently.
Claims that status effects or certain skills don't count because they don't work on bosses. Other jobs face this as well. Its nothing new. However most non boss enemies don't have these immunities. Add to that many of BLU's AoE skills don't have a damage fall off per target like AoEs from other jobs and they easily claim a top spot in crowd control at their current level of relevant content. If you think otherwise then equip your job with ilvl 130 gear and do a lv 50 duty synced.
Some of the blu spell combos are quite OP as well at lv 50 if you pull them off. I'd like to see some combos IMO that didn't rely on status effects though. Or the addition of some type of combo mechanic that would encourage people to cast more than 1 or 2 spells primarily.
It also falters at being a tank, as it takes more damage than the other tanks, has less health, and its only mitigation skill can be cancelled by boss autos. Not to mention the fact that while its tanking it does basically no damage to the point where a halone spamming pld in shield oath will still out damage it, whilst also out mitigating it. This is also not mentioning how it can't easily tank swap or gain and maintain aggro outside of spamming white wind.Currently the only role it falters at is healer. Explain to me where im wrong in my summary. Diamond back gets cancelled by boss autos, even with mightyguard, blu takes more damage than a tank and deals way less damage. The only decent aggro skills are the Look and white wind with mighy guard up, and they dont have provoke for tank swaps. But please tell me what im doing wrong, im ready to be enlightened as to what i havent read. (Spoilers, I wrote BLU guides I dont think ive missed anything)

I've had it happen to me personally against ifrit, and other users have reported it too, sorry we can't confirm more than that. With Smart play, mechanics can be avoided with bard, cover, tank LB, ect. Yes they are way more durable than non tank jobs, but damage tradeoff isn't worth it at all. Real Tanks are more durable AND do more damage, and this is a damage centric mmo, so its not really worth it, so blu could not sub in as a multi role.what boss autos break diamondback? i just tested this on a number of bosses, and saw it working as advertised.
