PETITION: Regarding FINAL FANTASY XIV Steam Version (Mar. 8)

Im here to Sign For this as well , this is absolutely ludicrous for them to force this , without letting us change to the client cause there to lazy to implement a way to transfer over , This is not gonna sit well with everyone , people dont like having stuff taken away , espeally when you refuse to do any work to move your loyal fans to the correct client , the steam client is so buggy and messed up and SE Has nothing to say except theres nothing we can do because We refuse to put resources aside and actually help and improve the game for users.

And if SE doesn't care about us (players with Steam accounts who are complaining about Steam client) maybe it's a good moment to quit playing Final Fantasy XIV? Especially when it's still possible to refund Shadowbreakers. If nothing will change SE's mind i think it's worth considering.
I'm in a rather complicated situation at this point: few years ago, when i was at work, my GF registered to FFXIV using my Steam account (i had bought it but 've never played it before). I learned about this when i was trying to play something on Steam and i couldn't because i was already logged in on another PC. Then we've learned that it's possible to play FFXIV using non-Steam client. So we've downloaded it and everything was great... till now. Now i've learned that if she wants to play the game she has to start using my account on Steam or to create new for her. But she doesn't agree to the Steam regulations, and the first option is limiting my access to my Steam account. And forcing her to agree to Steam regulations against her will is IMHO illegal! Also - during registration - she didn't get any message explaining to her that she's registering using Steam and if she doesn't want to be screwed few years laters she should stop. It has not been clearly (and at all) explained.

BTW - this year SE updated list of prohibitet behaviours in FFXIV (full list here: http://support.na.square-enix.com/fa...6&id=5382&la=1). And what if forcing someone to play through Steam against his will "inflicts deep emotional distress" on that person? It's violation of "Other actions that are generally regarded as actions that inflict deep emotional distress on another person" in harassment section. Also this notice (https://eu.finalfantasyxiv.com/lodes...dbc6429f507050) should also be considered as an offensive expression. It matches "Expressions that significantly lack consideration for another person" and "Expressions that compel a playing style" - maybe it's someone's playing style to play directly without using Steam? And for certain it is typical example of Obstruction of play - "if you are not running FFXIV through Steam we won't let you play".
In one short message 3 violations of prohibitet behaviours - maybe whole Square Enix's crew should be permamently banned for that? Because even those who make the law should obey the law. If not, who would we be? Savages!

I am strongly against this change. We need to either be offered a way to switch version or simply not enforce this new log in standard. Steam is utterly terrible as a platform.

I am here signing this as well. Not only can the Steam client be unreliable and buggy, but it can eat CPU and shouldn't have to be open for a game that literally does not need it. Likewise, people like me NEED to use services like pingzapper just to not have a horrible connection to the data center. I am american and play on primal, but moving the servers to the west coast really screwed me over. Not allowing non-steam launches effectively prevents using a lot of services like this. Please do not go through with this change, it will negatively impact many players.

If you must make this change, allow players with steam keys to switch over to regular PC keys, I beg of you.

There are about a million things wrong with your accusations. Sure, Steam is stupid and this change is dumb, but you are accusing them of completely indirect harassment that is beyond their control.

I have to agree, a one time transfer should be possible for those who made the mistake to buy the game through steam; not all of us are aware that buying MMO through steam is a pain.

It's a shame all of this happen a few months away of a new expansion, which is probably why steam decides to take actions >>.

I don't want my game experience to be ruined by having steam as a proxy.

Steam's a resource hog. If we could get that one time transfer over from Steam to PC, I'd greatly appreciate it.

I've had issues in the past with Steam just...corrupting my registry files for no apparent reason, thus having the Client say "Install" where clearly I have the game still on my computer and it is playable...without the use of the Client.

So, after the third time of Steam 'corrupting' my files or misplacing them, I just use the Application and launch the game without Steam on at all.

With this going into effect, not only will my game lag horribly because of Steam having to constantly run in the background, but it'll cause me to have to 'reinstall' the game over and over if they (Steam) lose my files again. That is a waste of time that I could be using in the game instead of reinstalling a perfectly fine game...that isn't corrupt or misplaced...yet Steam says it is.

Just...please...Dev Team, please reconsider this...or give us the option to get out of Steam. Please and thank you.

Write at least half a milion things wrong with my what-if scenarios . "Beyond their control" you say? I doubt it - i have an account in torchlight 2 and neverwinter online and there is no such problem with them. So that's why i think it's not only Valve's fault, but SE's too - after all both parties must agree to the contract. Besides, it is not Steam that tells loyal players "if you don't like it then quit"...

This is sad. As tempted as I am I probably won't refund ShB, but I find it quite disturbing that the announcement came after pre-orders started, not before. Basically, when most of the people who would preorder already did commit (and there I was reminding myself about TotalBiscuit's video on preorders, and thinking "but it's FFXIV, it's SE, nothing wrong probably gonna happen", funny, I know).
Well, whatever happens, I'm sure I'm NOT preordering their next expac, if it ever comes out. And I'm going to find any ways possible to avoid purchasing anything through Steam.
