have to ask is the lowest end pc that is supported by ffxiv better than a ps4 if it isn't its pcs that is holding ffxiv back if it then pls go ahead and blame ps4I agree. I noticed the river in AS aswell and it just stops at the end of the map. Nothing covering the end of the map at all. thats why i wish they would put stuff like tiny settlements in places like this, to cover up abit more. And i know people argue that they're restricted because of PS4, but come on, Theres games rn that require 10x more power than FFxiv on PS4, and they manage to make their games feel more filled in. Like Bloodborne or the dark souls series in general does this perfectly.
I just feel like if SE did more to the world in general, like update textures and fix the proportions so you actually feel the way you're supposed to feel in a zone, the flying wouldnt be an issue.

I dont blame ps4 for holding FFxiv back. I literally said its no excuse for SE as theres tons of other games with higher graphics and more assets in the game, and ps4 can run those games smoothly.
SE even stated that they had issues upgrading graphics in FFxiv because of ps3 support (The ps3 support has ended), and they said ps4 also makes it complicated aswell.
Btw getting kinda off topic, so just wanna add something else to the discussion.

You can easily see what i mean by going to Doma or Ala mhigo. These are places you've heard alot about since ARR and boy was i hyped to get there in the end. I thought Ala Mhigo would be a city state that we could interract with or atleast enter, but ofc its not. Its just a dungeon and the extreme barren wasteland infront of the walls.
theres nothing to it, and this is where it gets me; They use the "Tardis" effect for everything in the open world. That means, when you look at something like a dungeon in FFxiv from the open world, it looks extremely tiny, but once you're inside the dungeon its huge and alot of stuff going on in there.
So if you fly above the walls of Ala Mhigo, you'll see something like 1 road and a few copy/pasted buildings, but once in there its so, so much more going on. This also goes for Doma.
Doma feels just like an empty castle in the open world, theres like 1 settlement right outside of the castle, but its all destroyed and its only like 10 houses? its supposed to be a castle, an important landmark in FFxiv's world, and theres almost no life there.
Also the castle itself looks just ridiculously small on the outside, but in fact when in the dungeon, it again is extremely huge with tons of stuff. why cant this be in the open world aswell?

glad to hear there are people who just blame everything on ps4 and it gets tiring having to defend the system choice. PS3 despite being a hindrance ultimately was to the benefit of the game that was rightly cancelled support once a better system was in an affordable place and the game has had plenty of QoL improvements since its cancellation.I dont blame ps4 for holding FFxiv back. I've played Assassin's Creed Odyssey on the PS4, the Ancient Greek cities in that game look 10 times better and more detailed than any city in FFXIV. I don't think it's the PS4 that holding FFXIV graphics back.
Please, I dont blame PS4 for anything. I used to be a PS4 player myself all the way to the end of HW, i have alot of friends playing PS4 and i have no issues with PS4 either. Im just stating that SE cant use the same excuses when it COMES to limitations because FFxiv is on multiple platforms.glad to hear there are people who just blame everything on ps4 and it gets tiring having to defend the system choice. My point being that sure, FFxiv has alot lower fps on PS4, but adding some settlements outside of the playable zone to add life to the world wont harm PS4 players or anyone else.
So please stop trying to attack me on something that has nothing to do with the arguement.
Duly noted never talk to you again after this. Even though i misunderstood what your 1st comment meant and got a better idea afterwards to a point where i would've given an apology over getting the wrong idea due to my own misgivings of getting sick and tired that people just blame consoles, the fact you went and played the victim card i now no longer what to hear anything you say as anyone that might have a different opinion or misunderstands your comments on an online discussion (I might've been the 1st but i certainly won't be the last) and you may have to elaborate on your comment to clear up confusion may be seen as a personal attack means i no longer will interact with you regarding anything you say no matter how insightful it may be.Please, I dont blame PS4 for anything. Enjoy your time in the forumsplenty of people will ask for elaboration in the future you might want to be prepared for more 'attacks'

I really don't think flying adds much to game either. All it does is make zones seem bigger and more empty. It is cool at first, sure, but the novelty wore off so fast for me. And there is nothing fun about finding Aethercurrents. The ARR zones are still some of my favorites in the entire game just because of how vibrant and fleshed out they feel. They're smaller but everything in them felt more significant.
Like, I'm not saying to ditch flying all together, but bring the zones back to ARR size or just a tad larger. I don't need these giant maps to fly around in. :v
I really dislike when people like the OP pretend that the game is ruined based on their perspective of it. I'm having a great time, love the way it is, and yes I love to fly.
