I could queue as tank into Lakshimi or Castrum Abania if I wanted to. The game would do nothing to stop me. Why Enix decided that was for the best is beyond me.
That's deadly and it probably explains half this thread. Add in the fact you can pick up a quest to open a duty for a later time, and the DF roulette can plop you right in there even before you've actively selected it and it's lunacy. Can't help but think it should be changed, ilevels should be met for all duties, and roulettes should only open for/include a duty after you've completed it once.

Everytime a DPS gets instajibbed by an Optimized Bladedance in O12N always brings a little joy to my day.

Thanks for saving me a cooldown, g. If it weren't that it's always a SAM or BLM, I'd commend them for their efforts, but I would never commend either of those jobs.

That talk about vote kicking reasons reminded me of this one run I had a week or two ago.

Place: St Mocianne's Arboretum (through expert roulette)
Party: myself on SCH, a friend on SAM, a pug on PLD and another pug on I don't remember what class

The PLD starts off by pulling only the first group. I'm generally fine if someone wants to go slow, but I notice something is wrong as the aggro gets all over the place. I glance at the PLD's buffs and notice that they're in sword oath. I don't care what stance the tank is in if they can do their job, but this PLD obviously can't. On the way to the first boss I politely request them to switch to shield oath. No reaction whatsoever. We finish the first boss with random people tanking. I request shield oath again, more sternly this time, and one of the DPS posts the auto-translated name of the ability (for whatever good that would do, as the PLD was using an English client). I make a remark in chat about how we can't even kick the guy since he's not rolling on any loot (probably on purpose).

At the start of the second boss I briefly see the shield oath icon, but it quickly reverts to sword oath and aggro is flying everywhere as before. After the boss is down I give my ultimatum: either the PLD starts tanking or I will see them kicked from the group. No tanking happens, so at the final boss I make good of my threat. I stand outside of the boss arena, and once force-teleported inside I die without pressing a single button (aside from canceling my fairy). The PLD actually fights on for a surprisingly long time (clemency is so OP) but is eventually overwhelmed and dies.

At this point the loot has long since expired and there's nothing to prevent me from initiating a vote kick (I put harassment as the reason). The DPS vote in favor and so the inept PLD is finally gone. Hurray. I apologize to the DPS and they agree that the PLD needed to be taught a lesson. We queue for a new tank but then my SAM friend asks if she could try tanking the boss. I say why not, the other DPS agrees and in we go. The fight turns out to be surprisingly easy without an actual tank; even the tankbuster hits the SAM for less than half her health. Soon the boss is dead and everyone agrees it was the most interesting fight they've had in a while.

Was it petty of me to go out of my way to get the tank kicked? Definitely. Was it within the ToS? I have no idea. Was it satisfying? So very much.

I'm willing to put up with bad tanking if there's an honest attempt but from this guy there was none. Had they communicated a reason for their behaviour I would have been more accommodating. Had they been a DPS I would have just shrugged it off, maybe not even noticed if the other DPS was good. But I'm not about to give a free run to someone who so blatantly disregards the purpose of their role.

Not much related to your case, but it is worth keep note that I'm not the only one that, when tanking, pull only first one (or two, if I think it is still safe) group at start, because I'd like to check the dps (and healing) output of the PUG I got.

There is no point on big pulls if party cannot aoe or healer cannot keep pace (provided I were using my cd correctly, ofc) or both.

Didn't think i'll add another so soon

so running my hlr alt through msq get to Sirensong sea i get a drk tank a ninja and this is where the post comes from brd.

Now what was wrong with the brd they played perfectly fine dodge mechanics weren't rude they just had 1 very glaring little bit of a problem their gear was thus, Halonic (lv57) brd bow, left side armor was ilv 200 brd af gear, accessories were 53 choker, 56 necklace, 56 bracelet, Brand new ring and last but by far their best piece Yaxian(67) ring. This ofc caused me undue stress and were my alt a whm i wouldn't have been able to keep them alive in the boss fights shields being as good as they are glad choose ast as my alt.

Now i put most of the blame on this individual for queuing up in a roulette with severly underleveled gear as if you can enter it get your gear suitable for the highest duty you can enter but i also put the blame at SE's feet this shouldn't have been possible we really do need min ilv requirements for leveling dungeons in expansions

Last night I decided to do ex roulette after work on my sch and I got a war that was in gear ranging mostly at 360 with some 380 gear and some... 330 gear. Which is not badly geared for the burn, I will admit. However, he would pull everything in defiance then switch into deliverance. The kicker? Never used a single cool down. No raw intuition, no vengeance, no rampart or convalescence. Just inner release. I was dumping aether stacks into this moron until i had nothing left to give except eating my fairy. Luckily, the dps would kill everything slow enough so my mp became sad and low. It was stressful. And after the second boss with all the sand worms. He pulls while IN deliverance and I try my absolute best to keep him alive. No cool downs once again and he goes down like the titanic even with me spamming heals. I get him back up just before I die, the smn gets me back up and I'm healing him with what little mp I have and the smn is just passive aggressively healing me. Like thanks dude could ya just kill this shit? And the dumb ass tank is all 'sorry, vengeance never popped'. IS THAT SO! BECAUSE IT HASN'T POPPED FOR THIS WHOLE DUNGEON LIKE THE REST OF YOUR FRICKEN COOLDOWNS. Luckily with us both death sick he too the last two mobs in tank stance and used like one or two cooldowns. A god damn miracle. We killed the last boss (bc honestly bosses are easy) with him in deliverance with using no cooldowns with little issues.

I got zero commendations for this. Yes, yes blame the healer.

Ahh. After all that talk of Orbonne I have my own story to tell. Went last night with two FC mates, a tank and a healer and myself as dps. I notice it takes a bit to get thru the first trash mob but I figure ok, its just a warm up we're still fine. But then at Mustadio we get thru 3 of his ring mechanics (its always been two max) and at Agrias we lose 5 party members at once to... Something. I think Judgement Bolt? Leaving only myself and my two FC mates right before the add phase. Between me (SMN) and my whm friend we get everyone up and thru the dps check. So...I know the DPS is there but I'm dreading Cid and it drags on too, even though there are no blatant stupid mistakes. Ultima goes the same and again while some ppl are going down, mechanics are largely being observed but holy crap. Longest run ever without wiping. I think its gotten to that stage where people are taking their lesser-geared jobs for the loot. *Sigh* Even when they take the restriction off, I can only stomach that once a week.

Here's a fun one. Leveling Roulette Castrum Abania as a Samurai. Partners are a Red Mage (who was a bro), Warrior (who was a BRO), and a Scholar (who was there). First pull, we start dying in the usual order (tank, melee dps, ranged dps, healer). Halfway through the death rotation, I get a rez from the healer. I'm thinking "lolwut? No tank rez?" When we all respawned, I asked the healer to rez the tank first and checked the healer's gear. Shire gear. Healer is whining they don't know how to play (you don't say...) so the tank and deeps buddy try to give him advice (they typed faster than me so my advice would be redundant).

I'm going to take a break from the story to rant really quick because my blood boiled a little as we went on and the tank died every ten feet. I don't care how long your break was. There is literally NO EXCUSE for you to not to try to get equipment that has a level as close to your current level as possible. I'm not talking about ilevels. I'm talking about having a weapon that says LV 68 if you're level 69. 4-year-olds who've never played a video game before know that bigger numbers on your gear are better and know how to use Google searches to discover where in the game to get this gear. Also, I've taken long breaks (6 months+) and can say with certainty the basics in this game are like riding a bike. Relearn them! It takes five minutes!

Anyway, the tank and deeps buddy are adding more advice on (use Aetherflow for emergency buttons which he wasn't doing, drop Excog when the tank starts a pull) which caused the healer to say the words that put me on tilt. "That's too much work. I don't know how to play. I've been gone for 8 months." Too much work? TOO MUCH WORK? How about the tank dying every three seconds while trying to get your helpless, lazy ass through and giving you advice besides! WE'RE WIPING ON TRASH! Too much work...needless to say he was vote kicked after that. We immediately got a White Mage (who was a BRO). We were...a little enthusiastic about greeting him. The following conversation took place:

WHM: I think you guys are overestimating my abilites.
WAR: You literally can't be worse than our last healer.
Me: Trust me, you'll be better than our last one. XD
RMG: Our last healer was so bad you'll be an improvement regardless.
    WHM:...That was pretty emphatic.

The kicker? Our new healer did a perfectly respectable job despite never having run that dungeon before AND us not going through boss mechanics beforehand. Fixed my bad mood right up.

I don't know who I would have been more angry at: the Shire tank or the healer. Probably the healer, simply because of their "that's too much work" comments. I got irritated just reading your story lol.

I thought he was referring to the healer about the Shire Gear. I could have misinterpreted that though.
