Why do you dislike longer hairstyles and race un-locked hairstyles so much, Square?

Personally, I don't mind some of the hairstyles being race locked. It gives the races a bit of a unique flair. The vast majority of them aren't, so letting the races keep their set of unique hairstyles is fine by me. They only have what... like 4/5 each?

There is probably some weird issue behind the scenes. While in general it's a bit of a myth that the majority of the game is built out of haphazardly slapped together pieces of 1.0 wreckage the fact does remain that 1.0 players could travel straight in to 2.0, so anything linked with characters, what they look like, what they're carrying, wearing, etc. was brought across. You'll notice it tends to be those things that the devs complain about being awkward to update.

Even if that wasn't the case though, I vaguely recall Yoshi mentioning in the past that some stuff would still be limited to give each race something unique, same reason they don't plan to let Miqote wear Elezen starter clothes or Elezen dress as Lalafells, etc.

I'd pay for my favorite FF of all times, though I'd prefer a sequel, let's see Zidane's kid and Vivi's kid and steiner's kid and a more grown puk, and eiko being the big sister all go on an adventure together, bonus points if Zidane's kid is a male battle mage and steiner's kid is a female knight.

I'd like to see a Final Fantasy IV type remake but on the switch for FF VI personally. If all the rereleases are gonna use the mobile version I'd like a new one.

Also a better port of Tactics please. I want to play tactics but don't own a psp or ps1 anymore and the mobile version crash on my phone and tablet.

Yeah, a new Tactics on the pc would be nice, though I still have a working copy for PS1.

Anyways, back to topic...long hair...hmm, kind of nice, but not high on my wanted list, race unlock though...

....or just more diverse hairstyles for male Lalafells in general. Seriously, I've had the same hairstyle on mine since I made him in patch 2.3. It's just getting depressing at this point.

I would love some longer hairstyles and have been saying similar things for awhile now. Especially when long hairstyles exist in game from npc’s. Specifically like Fran for example. The viera’s models are the same as Fran’s besides face and hair I believe. In the viera trailer they showcased a few hairstyles one of them seemingly a very “Fran-esque” style that is considerably shorter. But to note it does appear to be the longest ponytail currently. The ivalician hair and that hairstyle in the viera seemed to have pushed the length a bit, but not as far as the other npc hairstyles in game. So it’s like they *know* we want longer hairstyles but yea probably technical stuff that maybe hopefully they are working out. I could be mistaken but they mentioned adjusting some elements of character creation when doing viera? So maybe there is hope for that at least.

Also i took screenshots of it, but in the viera trailer, when the viera with white hair does a little spin dance move you can see the ponytail clip right through the body. Im totally fine with clipping if it means having longer hairstyles. But also it’s probably not the main issue preventing it considering hair clipping already exists in game in various amounts.

I guess I don’t mind that races of unique hairstyles, but niether would I be against them un-racelocking them.

People been asking this since 1.0 ... And yet it still is being avoided.
As for how it goes skel wise and all. There are way. I mean, seems like a ton of people are using modes. And some are with long hair as far as I saw, and it didn't clipped more than the current ones we have.
So what's the reason then?
