Well, the whole point of "farming" is to running after something... You can't farm fun so whats yout point ? People do just for the reward ? Some sure do but... There so many people speedrunning games for the sake of it, beating hard game with as much handicap as possible for no reward... If its fun people will do it, its a game, nobody get any reward for playing it to begin with, if its fun it don't need that much different reward hidden under so much RNG... Make it fun first and then give player a treat for doing it.

Reward systems themselves are game mechanics. The idea that "content must be fun without reward" goes against many game design principles. Gambling relies entirely on that idea, are you saying that poker or roulette is poorly designed because its not fun without reward?

Yeah and gambling is such a good exemple that it need regulation to even be legal. What I'm saying is if the content is fun, appealing and people have a blast doing it once the reward aquired they may be willign to do it again for the fun of it. Content shouldn't depend only on its reward to stay alive past the first completion. Eureka should have a reward in the end but hidding what should have been reward under abyssimal RNG layer just make it worst and less attractive.
