No 5.0 PC physical copy?

the only time the physical disc had more than the installer was 1.0 but the data on said disc was outdated quickly. with 2.0 they had a 650MB to 700MB CD with only the 109MB installer on it. makes little sense if that is all that will be on it. do note while it only costs them a small amount to make the disc the packaging, storage and shipment also come into cost

I’m a fairly new player and got the ARR+HW+SB Complete PC disc version to install the game. Even with three discs worth of data installed, I still had to wait for all three “parts” to have patches downloaded and installed. I was both surprised and not surprised even the StB CE doesn’t have a physical disc.

Its not a complaint, and not a request "to save money" its a request for the box art. Try to stop being so edgy and read more.

I like box art, but I am not willing to dish out 200$+ for a figurine that I have zero interest in.

Best route is what Kingdom Hearts III did.

Make a Deluxe Edition for people who dont want to blow crazy money for figures.

Make a Collectors Edition for people who want random extras.

I'm surprised they're still releasing the game on MAC, ever since that FFXIV mac issue ages ago, where people had to get refunds for their broken/not able to play copies of FFXIV during Heavensward.

I hate that the pc version is only available as a download. I'm one of those who likes to have a cd/dvd copy as a back-up in case of situations such as data limitations and whatnot. It's disappointing that apparently not even the physical CE will have a game disc included.

You'd usually have it pre-downloaded by release and if you did have to redownload it it's probably not going to take long with even the slowest broadband.

They dont technically have a Mac version it's a wrapper so as long as the wrapper works they dont need to put much effort into it. They can also charge an addition price for PC users.

Point is PS4 gets a disc/box/box art and costs the same price as PC/MAC. How is that right? “Because you need a disc for PS4” ok. Then make it even across the board and give PC and MAC a disc and box/box art.

Because it's a console. They dont have as much freedom as they do for the PC. For a console version there's many more fingers in that pie. It would be more profitable if they could sell it diagonally but would Sony allow this? Does the game actually access the disc during play?

technically they don't need a disc for the PS4, if you enter the code without installing it will download the game, I know this from several friends who just used the code even though they bought the physical disc. I understand the plight that some people have with this but unfortunately unless you have someone to download and install the game you can copy from (the game is mostly self contained, other than it's own folder it uses a folder in the "my documents" folder) you won't get very far. however if you do have friends that already have the game or are willing to help you, you can go this way.

it only accesses the disc at start and it's kinda silly that it does because it needs nothing from it. it only contains a small installer just like the PC version does. and as I said above you can just use the code and install it without the disc
