The only thing you'd lose out on overall is the mounts or minions and earring/leveling stuff for the first time player. As Valkyrie_Lenneth mentioned above, the only downside will be that they will not be able to go past 50 until that content is installed on the game. And the preorder bonuses for early access won't be till June/July. So they'd be sitting there a bit.
