Will Unikalhai be joining us? (Spoiler?)

So with all of this talk about the Scions becoming more integral to the story once more, with them even becoming party members, and the whole idea of us visiting other shards, what about Unukalhai?

I personally would like to see more of him. He may just be a "child" but he has proven to be a valuable asset. Plus, since its confirmed he is from another shard and affiliated with Elidibus, his assistance would prove useful.

Would anyone else like it if he was a part of the 5.0 story? And for those saying he is the Warring Triad quest giver, remember Urianger was the old Primal quest giver in ARR, and he is in the story, so it's not out of the ordinary to see the quests adjusted.

He definitely needs to be involved. It's bizarre to set him up with such a story-relevant background and then leave him permanently off to the side when he should have important things to contribute to the main plot.

I really hope so. He's a canon member of the Scions, and one of the very few with the Echo, as well of firsthand knowledge of shards and light floods. You'd think that would be pretty important. It's a crime that the MSQ has been pretending he doesn't even exist just because Warring Triad is sidequest.

Yes, please. I'd much rather have him than any of the others. I'm so tired of the same characters all the time. They're even bringing back Minfilia. Can't they just stay dead or gone? Give me new stuff!

edit: If they're going to have us drag along resurrected people, please let me choose which ones. If Zenos is truly in that Elezen we saw a glimpse of a while back, as some theorize, then please make him our ally! It would be so bad ass! I'd forgive SE for killing or ruining my favorite characters if they let me have him!

TBH, i expected to be Thancred and Unukalhai from the begging. I haven't forgotten about Hydrus Van Regula neither, he would be possibly the only one able to make Varis face the first emperor along the alliance instead of the route he is going on right now.
Maybe if we are truly going to re-write story, a good start would be to save Hydrus if he is not already alive and doing something about things just as Gaius was.

I don't even know why is minfilia back. Aether is thinning, Hydaelyn is probably at its weakest now, like, can she even be bothered to manifest on a younger minfilia once more? a clearly Aether "infused" one. Wasn't she busy saving one particular Shard to begin with? Even in an interview they said that the whole Warriors of Darkness and Minfilia stuff was done to get rid, break away at least, from the chains of 1.0

I honestly do not understand the incessant need to bring people back alive... This is just bad writing. And before you point out i want Hydrus back, Hydrus was wasted as a character unlike minfilia we all know, had more than enough from and most were pretty glad to see part. I really don't understand what is minfilia doing in that trailer, at all.

There's an important thing here that a lot of people in different discussions have either forgotten or didn't realise in the first place.

Minfilia never died.

She was taken - alive, body and soul - by Y'shtola's Flow spell to Hydaelyn in the aetherial sea, where she became first incorporated into Hydaelyn as the "Word of the Mother", then a free emissary who would travel to the First Shard and prevent the Flood of Light from overtaking it. (In the conclusion to the Warriors of Darkness arc, she explains that Hydaelyn was able to 'set her free' again thanks to the energy returned to Her by bringing together the WoL's and WoDs' crystals.)

While suggested at the time that she might not be able to return from the First, it also didn't seem like 'the end'. It sounded like she would be returning to the story at some point, or at least I read it that way.



We never saw Gaius die either. The last we see of him in the Praetorium (not during the dungeon but in the cutscene after) he's alive and still monologuing. He didn't appear in the Palace of the Dead even though you can encounter Livia and Rhitahtyn there. His survival has been a long time coming.



Regula, on the other hand, certainly died. We saw it. He was even shown with visible wounds - 'crystalised' rather than bleeding, but that seems to be a thing in this setting. (Lorebook 1, p.10 says that a mortal wound - specifically death-inducing - can cause the body's aether to crystallise. I think that's what's supposed to be happening, and we saw it with Haurchefant as well, although that might have been from the light spear. And possibly a third instance but I can't remember where. Asahi, perhaps?)

I don't think there are any "chains" from 1.0, at least not story ones, only gameplay ones. And Minfilia has always been important to the story in some way. The only issue people had with Minfilia was her lack of battle prowess compared to the other Scions. But it almost unanimous, that when the Scions were under her leadership they were a well organized and respected group. Though they might not be in a bad spot, it shows that they aren't as organized as before.

As for child Minfilia, we know Hydaelyn has the closest connection to her, and if she is weakening, it should be easiest for her to lay dormant inside of Minfilia. At least that's my interpretation.

Is that over somehow? She and the WoD managed to save a whole shard of Hydaelyn? It will probably be part of 4.55, but it literal makes absolutely no sense for her to be back. The events of 4.55 are still a mistery, but as it stands right now, today, as of, extender teaser reveal. She has absolutely no reason to be even in the game anymore.

Minfillia’s overreliance on the Main character and penchant of calling them on linkpearl to meet with her somewhere to talk to them something that could have been communicated via linkpearl is also a big reason. Making her a divine figure of hydaelyn only makes this worse, as her capacity to order us around is now limited to how long we are serving hydaelyn.
