It's possible they're still under construction, along with the dark-skinned Rava Viera clan. So far in today's trailer all I saw were light-skinned Veena females. This could be possible since, as far as the lore states, male Viera are so rare that they probably haven't made any important storyline male Viera npcs. Just because it exists in character creator, doesn't mean that it'll be integrated completely into the game at first. From what I can remember, there were no male Raen Au Ra in Heavensward's storyline at all, until they appeared later in Stormblood. The Au Ra's lore stated that they came from the far east, making them just as rare as Viera in Eorzea. This could be the case, which gives them more time to work on other gameplay features and make sure systems like New Game + are functional first.

Ah, that's news to me. Yeah, I think they're definitely just being coy and sneaky about it for now. I'm sure we'll get a more thorough look at the viera's male models and separate clans in March then.

There were 2 Veena, and 2 Rava in the reveal trailer, plus, Fran is a Rava. Their skin just isn't as dark (at least by default) as you're imagining.

Rava Viera like Fran have dark skin and ear speckles. The 4 Veena Viera have Tactics Viera ears and light skin. If we put one of them next to Fran the differences become way more apparent.

No, two of them are dark skinned, one of them is about the same as Fran.

I too am more interested in male viera as a concept than female viera. Bunny girls have been a sex symbol since Playboy really took off (or maybe before that? I don't know), so the design of female viera outfits (and the concept), at least for me, just seem like fanservice. (Especially the whole stiletto heel thing - if their feet naturally evolved like that, why on earth would they require stilettos just to attain basic mobility?)

Same goes for catgirls. The fact that catgirls were initially only female races in the various FF titles just makes me feel like the devs were only comfortable with women conforming to this particular aesthetic (that of animal ears+tail are only acceptable on women and that they're meant to be sexy).

Anyway here's hoping they're a good design. Either lacy metal lingerie for males or...actually I'm hoping for lacy metal lingerie for males.
