What job is Y'shtola in 5.0?

When you read it this way, another possibility perhaps comes to mind. Y'shtola had talked to Matoya and Urangier was asking what she had told Y'shtola. Maybe Matoya was able to contact Y'shtola wherever the rest are now? So many possibilities, kind of like Varis in the 4.5 trailer was nothing like what actually occurred.

As for the job, even when we played as her she wasn't a true whm. Scion NPC's have also job changed a few times, case in point Thancred who has yet another new job to use.

As Purrsnikitty mentioned above, if we go by the Trust portion of the keynote, she seems to play a DPS role, unless Trust is role neutral.

It makes you also wonder some about the Trust system, Urangier became healer from dps and Y'shtola dps from healer. Add on Thancred from dps as well and I wonder if it was a way we can have a Trust of who we want in a non-traditional role for that NPC, but with me playing a healer could still have Y'shtola as a member of my Trust. It would be a shame to tanks and healers if they couldn't use a Trust with 3 characters unlocked if one was only the role that the player wants to go in as.

I can't help but be curious as to why Urianger referred to her as Matoya, especially with her sudden change of job.

Listen carefully to the first thing Yshtola says in the video. There's a pretty noticeable distortion in her voice, then it suddenly reverts to normal.

Hmm guess I figured it out after I listened to the german version. It looks like Matoya took over the body from Y'shtola but I am maybe wrong there.

Wild theory: this is a sign of WHM being abandoned, especially if other new job is healer, muahaha… ;p

I'm gonna have to say some kind of oracle. Urionge (or however the seven hells you spell his name) referred to her as Matoya. So my guess is that Y'shtola is channeling the spirits of the dead somehow.

Technically, isn't that already possible? Jobs are really just there for game mechanics. There's no stopping a character from using whatever magic they want so long as it's allowed within the lore (limitations can be things like the medium used but I don't know if, say, a wood cane is a strict requirement for White Magic since it seems like you can manipulate Aether without anything like that as shown by people like Y'shtola and Krile performing magic without any weapon).
