Clearly magitek shields for mitigation, and magic bullet charges for increased damage/emnity.It does actually! Like a worst paladin! You don't have a shield. How are they going to explain how you actually tank? I thought it would be more like well you are quick on your feet and use your gun to close distance, etc. but dudes just facetanking and bludgeoning the enemy with his pistol.
Granted, with the manner of tanking in FF, facetanking is mostly what you want to be doing, but it just looks so boring.

We saw maybe one combo, a defensive cooldown, a little puff of air for lack of better words, and some emoting. There's clearly a lot of animations they haven't shown off yet.

Problem is that is what they showed off in the gunbreaker trailer. The trailer is supposed to build hype. This just deflates all of the hype, for me.
I assume this is your first job teaser trailer? Just go back and look at Samurai and RDM reveals, they're about the same level.

If you want more just wait for job action trailer.
As for the skill animations in general, XIV has always been a bit more on the tame side.
I know some of you might not like it, but is what it is.
Also I'm assuming one hand had to be kept free for 'Reloading' animation or whatever the Gunbreaker's equivalent is.

I actually think Samurai is an extremely boring class as well. If they released half baked trailer in the past they could have remedied it now. I want some bada** sh**!I assume this is your first job teaser trailer? Just go back and look at Samurai and RDM reveals, they're about the same level.
