I always use retainer to get mandrake seeds or any other seed they can get. Feels a waste to do otherwise and it's a chore to get the than soil for shard crosses.

+1 for sending retainers out. I have a botanist to gather seeds and a miner to gather soils, and you can get a fairly large stockpile going after only a couple of days.

I currently use the curiel/nymeia cross for my onions, since I use nymeia seeds and flowers as part of my mandragora minion/doll business. If I find myself with a larger-than-needed stockpile of nymeia then I'll switch to jute since it is quite useful for various things.

than soil can be a pain I got 5 mining retainers myself 2 btn defiantly a game changer.

Heh! My FC mate showed me something similar because she just loves to plant those shards. What I told her though is that I would never use garden beds to cross for seeds that can be harvested. Yes, I know mandrake seeds SUCK to harvest because they share the node with another seed adding another layer of RNG. Basically though, I would tell my FC mate that she's not optimizing the garden beds, adding to overall lead time, and accepting a 50% lower yield on shards for seed packets she can get herself.

To acquire mandrake seeds, I just send my retainer after them, and I will harvest them myself if I am waiting in a queue. If I do this while doing my roulettes, I usually end up with 5-8 seed packets by the time I am done. What's important is that I have another set of mandrakes seeds ready to go by the time the current crops mature. For me, I need to gather 12 packets in five Earth day's time, which is easily done using the methods I just mentioned.

The thing is, she got mad at me and I felt like that one guy in dungeons who tries to push their optimal rotations on someone unsolicited. So please don't think I'm pushing the one all, be all way to do things. That was more of sharing a story between my FC mate and I over mandrakes, while also mentioning an alternative means to go about getting mandrakes if it does interest you

Gotcha! I forgot retainers got them, still cant hurt to toss in a set of shards to get a few now and then if you can sneak in that 2 day wait period if you got the dirt. swap to roots kinda where I'm at with it.

this is what I think about cast more stone please... I do cast it just not going to spam one skill becuase even if dng goes by 1 min faster it feels 1 hour longer lol.

Hi! I'm the developer of FFXIV Gardening. You are right that the current cross diagrams for Thav Onion are pretty outdated (though still relevant). I just haven't really got around to making updated one's as there are so many different ways to go about it producing the seeds. I agree that perhaps an updated one using shard seeds and other newer crosses is in order. I'll see what can be done.

The site is always being updated with new crosses (usually at least once a week, sometimes more). We've discovered about 60% of all known crosses and are gradually chipping away at that number week by week with relentless cross testing! I use..

Sylkis Bud + Nymeia Lily = Onion

Shroud Tea + Onion = sylkis Bud

Coerthan Tea + Mandrake =Nymeia Lily

When I need Mandrake I grow Coerthan Tea + Krakka Root which can also give me Sylkis bud or soemtimes Midland Basil + void drake which only takes a day
